Join us for the 2024 Anthony's Walk on Saturday, September 28th, starting at 10 am at Marist College. This event is free and open to everyone! Now in its third year, Anthony's Walk honors Anthony Gray, a Marine Corps veteran who tragically lost his life in Poughkeepsie in October 2020.
The 22-minute community walk or roll around the Marist campus aims to raise awareness about the significant challenges faced by many veterans today. All proceeds from the event will benefit Liberty Station, our veterans' housing site in Poughkeepsie where Anthony lived. The duration of the walk serves as a poignant reminder of the 22 veterans who take their own lives each day in America.
We hope you will join us on Saturday, September 28th at 10 am for Anthony's Walk! ๐

A huge thank you to the City of Poughkeepsie Police! Every week, officers make a special visit to River Haven Shelter to engage with the youth โ playing card games, basketball, and sharing meals.
This initiative has fostered strong, positive relationships between our local police and the shelter's residents. It is particularly impactful for young people who may have had negative experiences with law enforcement, helping them see officers as supportive allies they can rely on for help.
Mayor Flowers met with key officials and stakeholders (including Hudson River Housing) at a vacant lot on Main Street, a known site of drug activity and violence. She emphasized the city's efforts to clear the area of illegal activities and help those struggling with addiction, mental illness, and homelessness.
The Mayor is working with Hudson River Housing to develop an outreach and resource center nearby.

๐Meet โDโ, a former resident of River Haven who turned his life around with our support. Now, he's giving back by volunteering at the River Haven shelter that once helped him. His journey is a testament to the power of our local community and second chances.
We're so proud of his achievements and grateful for his dedication! ๐ชโค๏ธ

We have a special situation at River Haven and could really use your help! ๐
Right now, we have a 10-year-old boy with autism staying at the shelter, but he functions more like a 5-year-old (first-grade level in school). He and his father are homeless, and River Haven is their only option to avoid placing him in foster care. We're doing our best to house him, but we quickly discovered that he needs to be kept busy at all times.
That's where YOU come in! We're looking for toys and crafts suitable for 5-6-year-olds. Specifically, we need LEGO sets for younger kids, anything related to Roblox, Matchbox cars or trucks, and any building toys appropriate for little ones.
If you have any of these items you no longer need and would like to donate, we would greatly appreciate it. Your kindness would mean so much to this boy and help our staff stay sane too!
Please send to 99 Thompson St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
Thank you for your generosity! ๐โค๏ธ
๐ In the early 90s, a group of volleyball enthusiasts from the Mid-Hudson Valley were inspired by Ben & Jerry's community commitment during a trip to VT. This led to the creation of "Rooftime," a charity volleyball tournament benefiting Hudson River Housing.

Register for the event here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/10_kD3kLvQNxi6ztcAdQDSrRRKxpWvglH0OzkKgt6R00/edit
Check-in is from 8:15 โ 8:40 AM, and games start at 9 AM. All proceeds support HRH. Let's exceed 300 players this year and make it the biggest Rooftime ever!
Location: 890 NY-82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. Turn in at the East Fishkill Community Center and follow the road to McGrath Field. See you there!
