What a special treat to win a 2024 Promoter’s Pick award at Dragfest - Indoor Drag Racing Showcase & Custom Car SHow. Many thanks to Andy Goodman for successfully continuing Darwin Doll’s show and congrats to the 2024 inductees into the NNDRA Legion of Honor.
The restoration was special to be able to save a piece of drag racing history and to continue the Pacers’ Tasmanian Devil’s legacy that was originally created by my father George Snizek and my late great uncle Charlie Dodge Hagenmayer. The project was the culmination of the talents of some of the top guys in the motorsports industry. I am most grateful to for making a dream become a reality. Especially, my friend, crew chief and mentor, Dennis Quitoni of Performance Services and Joe Quitoni of Joe Que’s Auto Body. Art Schilling, Howie Nisgor and Gary Kupfer for their incredible artwork and lettering. Tony Fusco, The Wilco Brothers, Gary Gillihan, Dennis Clayton Frymoyer, Bill Klein, Spud Miller, A&B Upholstery, Bonehead Performance. New England Chrome, CT Coatings, Al Nosse, Big Al Liebmann, Kevin the Polisher, Lenny the Painter, Dunwell Collision, Nitro Joe Morrison, NBP Polishing, Mike Natoli, Brian Beattie ane my sister Tracey Thorne.
Everyone kept the project a secret so we could surprise my father and boy was he ever surprised. My uncle Otto Qualliotine and my father always said that there was a magic that surrounded the car. Being able to reaquire the car 54 years after it was sold in 1967 with all its original parts and its original trailer and the way things happened along the way was more evidence of that. It was always about family and always will continue to be.
Thank you again to all of you who had a hand in this. Please share any memories you have of the car with us so we can add them to its history. Stay tuned to hear the fireup when Springtime comes!
