First Bagua Double Tipped Spear lesson with Shifu Li yesterday. I felt obligated to learn spear, but after starting I feel quite passionate about it. The spear has a very martial and animated spirit that really appeals to me.
When I asked Shifu Li about some of the more dangerous moves that have the tip being drawn back towards yourself, she said, “Not dangerous, suicidal.” 🤣 The spear is her favorite weapon.
2022 Competition results below. Very humbled and thankful to win 5 titles this year. Could never have done this without the help of Shifu Li Chungling. Thank you, Shifu!

Some pics of the 2022 competition season - 5 golds overall!
Last week at the World Kuo Shu Tournament in Rome, Italy I was able to win with my Cheng style Dao (broadsword) form. I’m so happy to be able to add another gold for Team USA, and become the 2022 World Champion in Bagua Weapons.
Many thanks to this World Kuo Shu Federation for this distinction. And to my teachers Master Li Chunling and the late Master C.K. Chu. Without you I could never have done this. I hope this win brings honor and distinction to you, and enables others to find their way to the self-healing and spiritual benefits of these arts. Thank you so much.

2021 Bagua Weapons Champion
I'm honored to report I won the Gold in Bagua Weapons at this years US Kuo Shu International Tournament with my Cheng style Jian (double-edge sword) form. Next year I'll be representing the United States at the World Championship in this category.
Much thanks to this US Kuo Shu Federation for this distinction. And to my teachers Master Li Chunling and the late Master C.K. Chu. Without you I could not have done this. I hope this win brings honor and distinction to you. Thank you so much.
"4 ounces defeats 1,000 pounds"
What does this phrase from the Taiji Classics mean? How do we implement it? As Master Chu would say, it means get behind the force. Don't fight force with force. Yield. How do we yield? Shifting and twisting. How do we learn to shift and twist? Neigong, Taiji, and push hands! The harder question is how do we learn to WANT to yield, and the answer is to meditate, a lot. More training. No short cuts. Do the work.
Bagua Jian - Hang Sword posture
As some of you know I've practicing a sister art to Taijiquan, Baguazhang, for a few years. (Taiji -23 years .. whaaat!?) Baguazhang is based on Daoist circle walking - and the health, spririt and energy benefits are truly fantastic.
I was oringinally exposed to Baguazhang through my Sisuk, or my teacher's brother Master Tony Chuey. Master Chuey is a formidable Praying Mantis and chin na master who would occasionally demonstrate his Baguazhang weapons forms for us. His Bagua sword forms left such an impression that I eventually couldn't resist the urge to study Baguazhang and have been smitten with the Cheng style Bagua for the last 5 years.
