Our summer architecture interns visited the job site for The OsLo, a multifamily community that incorporates wellness, smart technology and resort-like amenities. As part of our Spark program, site visits provide real-world context to what our interns are drafting and learning about in the workplace.

✨ NSPJ is thrilled to announce our newest team members, Thomas Branson and John Andrews as Designer Is! Both are returning to NSPJ after internships last year. Welcome back! 🎉

NSPJ recently celebrated Bill Prelogar, who is retiring after 52 years at the firm. As the "P" in our name, he has contributed significantly to the growth and structure of the firm while deeply caring for the wellbeing of our team. He is known for combining design and distinct details into all the projects he worked on.

A graduate of the University of Kansas, his first project for NSPJ was the Tuileries Apartments in Overland Park and from that first experience with high density housing, he was hooked for the rest of his career. While many of his projects have won accolades and awards, Bill says he cannot pick a favorite. His recent projects include CORE Apartments, River Market West II, Mission 106 and Summit Square Apartments.

"Bill is a fountain of knowledge," Tim Homburg, co-president of NSPJ, said. "He is a student of life and committed to learning, which in turn has been passed on to all of us here. We are extremely grateful."

Congratulations to Bill on your retirement and thank you for your dedication and mentorship over the years! Your influence will continue in our legacy of design excellence, strong relationships and culture of collaboration.

Arrive KC is in the early stages of construction in Kansas City's midtown, along the expansion of the streetcar route. The multifamily building seamlessly combines a forward-thinking modern design to the north and a nod to historical urban living and warehouse design to the south.

NSPJ’s next growth phase includes new HQ in Prairie Village - Kansas City Business Journal After more than 20 years, NSPJ will relocate its headquarters to a new, larger office space in July.

NSPJ Architects remembers our founder Howard H. Nearing, who recently passed away. Howard’s contributions to NSPJ and the architectural landscape in Kansas City – and beyond – are innumerable and immeasurable.

Almost 63 years ago, Howard took the first commission for his own practice, designing a custom home in Mission Hills. Over the next several decades, the firm expanded, gaining a reputation for a legacy of design excellence in residential-focused environments, to become NSPJ Architects. Currently, NSPJ employs more than 70 team members who contribute to projects that include residential and multifamily design, commercial, mixed-use and landscape architecture.

Howard’s legacy at NSPJ continues. He strived for perfection in both design and service, two of our core values that guide all our work and projects. He was known for his distinct design details, which remain a signature of the firm to this day. Our client-focused service, which Howard championed, is part of a desire to build strong relationships with our valued clients and team. This simple principle has been key to the firm’s continued success and growth.

We are grateful for Howard’s love of “creating beauty in architecture,” which was evident in the many magnificent homes he designed. His passion for design was taught and instilled in the team at NSPJ. He stressed the importance of the elements of architecture design, no matter the style, for balance, proportion and symmetry. Howard viewed form and function as one – equally important in creating timeless and elegant designs.

Our thoughts are with Howard's wife, family and friends.

NSPJ's Stephanie Stone recently made a guest appearance at the to talk to students about what it’s like to be an architect. Stephanie, whose son is in the class, then had the children color on sketches of our custom homes.

The Lenexa City Council approved a final construction plan for the Copper Creek Apartments. This will be an amazing development, by IQ, with a blend of one and two-bedroom units.

From runts to rents, monumental Norman School in KC withstands test of time The regal and massive stone structure of the Norman School stands as a testament of time next to a busy Southwest Trafficway. While this roadway is heavily used, for years, the school was not.
