Mid-Century Botanical Garden Masterpiece
I had the pleasure of showing a pretty amazing property last night. This home has been on the Johnson County Garden Tour several times and was custom built in 1959 by a World War II veteran who went on to become the president of the American Conifer Society. He recently passed away and his family must now sell this mid-century modern masterpiece. Original cork floors, retro baths, Italian pebble tile, mahogany shadow trim molding, walnut paneling and hideaway built-ins make you feel like you’re in an episode of Mad Men when you walk through this place. The winding paths through the garden areas beg you to lose track of time and just observe the beauty. The “botanical garden” yard has over 900 varieties of plants which are all clearly labeled and catalogued at the Smithsonian Archives of American Gardens.
