This past October, YA storytelling and theater teaching artist TAHIRA was honored by the National Association of Black Storytellers at their annual festival! TAHIRA received the Mama Linda Goss Presidential Commendation nominated by Sister Doctor Caroliese Frink Reed, the official NABS Scholar, and selected by current NABS president Dr. David O. Fakunle.

YA quilting and storytelling teaching artist Steven H. Hobbs was also honored at NABS as a new inductee to the Brother Blue Circle of Elders.

Congratulations to both of these wonderful, influential artists!

This past September, Young Audiences Arts for Learning NJ & Eastern PA (YA) recognized two New Jersey schools with the AIE Arts Champion Governor’s Award. This prestigious award was presented to Farmingdale School in Farmingdale, NJ, and Washington Avenue School in Pleasantville, NJ, in recognition of their exceptional dedication to arts education through the AIE Program!

Congratulations to YANJEP's own Sarah Brady, one of the newest recipients of the Young Audiences National Teaching Artist Credential! 🎉

Beginning in 2017, the TAC initiative was conceived by a working group of representatives from the Young Audiences network and developed in collaboration with an advisory committee of experts in the field of arts education.

The Storytelling/Theater artist offers two assemblies to schools in New Jersey and Pennsylvania:
- "More Than True: Folk and Fairy Tales with Character," an interactive choose-your-own-adventure for grades PreK-5
- "Conscience, Stories, and Hope: Hans and Sophie Scholl’s White Rose," an incredible tale for grades 6-12 about two siblings who choose a path of resistance in Hitler's Germany.

Sarah joins YANJEP artists Quynn Johnson, Molly Gaston Johnson, Laura Marchese and Karim Nagi as one of the 40 across the YA network to receive the Teaching Artist Credential (TAC). Learn more about Sarah here: https://www.yanjep.org/artist/sarah-osburn-brady/

Credentialed Teaching Artists have opportunities to network and share ideas together as a community; as leaders in the Young Audiences network, they provide professional learning sessions and one-on-one mentoring for YA teaching artists across the country.
