A familiar face around the Post, Emily (Staff Sergeant Weiderman) has been a Life Member since 2021 and currently holds the role of Post Surgeon.

For those that haven’t met her yet, she’s a combat veteran who calls Prior Lake her hometown. Emily graduated from Prior Lake High School in 2011. She was deployed to Afghanistan from October 2018 — June 2019 on the Army Casualty Liaison Team, attached to the 101st Airborne Division. She currently serves with the Minnesota Army National Guard as a Military Intelligence Analyst, while double-hatting that role for the Department of Defense in her full-time career.

In addition to her major assignments, Emily currently acts as a member of the Minnesota National Guard Women’s Special Emphasis Council and is a lead coordinator of the annual Minnesota Women’s Leadership Forum.

Her passion and selfless service will inevitably transfer into this new volunteer position. She will be actively recruiting volunteers for Post events, building new and solidifying old relationships with local community leaders, and promoting the VFW as a whole.

Make sure you say hi the next time you’re at the VF! Her son Maverick often graces the Post with his presence. And yes — he was named after Top Gun.

Banners of our Hometown Heroes will be displayed on light poles on Main Ave SE from Pleasant Street to 160th Street; from Memorial Day through Veterans Day.
- Summer of 2024, we will Honor All Veterans, not previously honored.
- Space limited to the first 40 applicants. Act Quickly!
- Enrollment is Now Open for Post Members until 1/31/2024, Open to the Public starting on 2/1/2024.
- Submission Deadline is 2/29/2024.
