🌟 Support for Breastfeeding Moms at Work! 🌟
Did you know that there are laws in place to ensure that breastfeeding moms have the support they need while at work? 🤱💼💻
Here’s a quick rundown:
⏰ Break Time: Under the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections (PUMP) for Nursing Mothers Act (PUMP Act) employers must provide reasonable break time for nursing mothers to express milk in the workplace.
🚪🛋️ Private Space: Employers are required to provide a private, non-bathroom space for breastfeeding or pumping. This space should be clean, comfortable, and free from interruptions.
🤝 Protection from Discrimination: It’s illegal to discriminate against employees because they are breastfeeding or pumping. Moms should feel supported for taking the time they need.
🗓 Flexible Scheduling: Employers are encouraged to work with nursing mothers to accommodate their pumping needs. Open communication is key to finding a balance that works for everyone.
Let’s celebrate and support our amazing breastfeeding moms! 💪❤️

A recent client and her young daughter gave me a new "title" and I can't stop thinking about how cute it is....."The Milk Doctor"! In the lactation world, I have been given a few fun titles, but this new one moves to the top of the list 😉!

Breastfeeding 🤱 and Vitamin D ☀️....here's the scoop!
Just a little morning project going on here today at BEL! ☺️🛠️
Just getting a little better organized! 🍼🤱
Here at BEL, I get LOTS of questions related to 🤱 breastfeeding and 💊 medication safety! Many providers that are not comfortable with medication safety and breastfeeding, may defer (♥️👏🏻) to lactation. I do however also get families that were advised to "pump and dump", or worse, "stop breastfeeding" because of medications, when in fact, it could have been avoided! When in doubt, REACH OUT ☎️! I will help you navigate!

Migraines 🤕are a fairly common among women of childbearing age, and as a Migraine suffer myself, this topic is even more dear to my heart. Just because you are breastfeeding does not mean you must suffer without treatment!

🎉2023 has been a GREAT year here at BEL!!
As I reflect on 2023, I really do think I have the best job ever! Why?! Because I get to work with cute little babies and also watch their parents walk out of my office door a little more confident than when they first walked in!
Thank you to all of the families that have put their trust in me to help improve their breastfeeding experience! Your support and business have lead me to my favorite highlight of 2023, which was the welcoming of Tiffany Engesser as the Billing Assistant at BEL!
As always, thank you to everyone for your support and trust! Happy New Year!
As a small business, I have worked very hard to eliminate cost as a barrier to receiving lactation support! BEL is in network with most all local Private and Medicaid plans. Yes, Medicaid too! Every mom and baby deserves that support! What does this mean?! Your office visit will be billed to insurance —just like any other office visit you may go to. Typical out of pocket costs may include a copay or unmet deductibles. Insurance also covers one-on-one prenatal lactation visits. Encourage and educate any expecting parents you may know. Reach out with question! Tiffany and I are here to help you!
Merry Christmas from BEL!
Parents,
Please know that when I say that this doesn’t bother me —PLEASE know that I mean that!
I understand that the ideal visit scenario would likely be without the distraction of the older sibling but, if older siblings have to come, that’s ok with me!
We have books, blocks, puzzles, and more…
I’d rather you be here than miss out on lactation support because you didn’t have a sitter!
I mean it….
The sticky fingers, goldfish, toys out, books open….
I love it!
I have always worked in pediatrics and (although not so little anymore) I have gone through this myself with my own —so it seriously DOES NOT bother me at all!
Kids are kinda my jam 😉!
Bring them if you need to!
After visits, I LOVE receiving feedback from parents! 📬📧
I love hearing success stories! I love hearing what worked for you!
I also like knowing what didn't work so well. This all helps me to make changes to my practice as well as adjust your plan to help you reach your goals! I always say: "Don't hesitate to reach out"......and I mean it! 🤱
With cooler weather 🍂 approaching....this is always a great reminder! Antibodies are one of the MANY benefits to providing breastmilk to infants. If you have questions about milk supply, reach out today! 🤱 www.babyeyeslactation.com 🍼
Do you know what is my favorite appointment to book?
Yes, Prenatal Appointments!! Let's meet and discuss what to expect and get yourself better prepared! 🤰
These one-on-one appointments will help you:
✅Feel better prepared!
✅Allow you to ask your questions!
✅Learn when to call and schedule an appointment after baby has arrived!
I am always proud to updated and expand this list of accepted insurance plans! BEL may be a small business however we have worked very HARD to eliminate COST as an obstacle for seeking lactation support. We all know that breastfeeding has numerous health benefits for both Mom and Baby and most all insurance companies will cover this type of service. Of course, depending on plan type, most families will only have a copay as any out-of-pocket cost! Please contact amanda@babyeyeslactation or tiffany@babyeyeslactation should you have any billing or insurance questions.
I am so happy to announce that BEL is growing! 🤩WELCOME Tiffany Engesser, the new Baby Eyes Lactation Billing Assistant! Tiffany will be working remotely to help with the many behind-the-scenes operations involving insurance companies, invoicing, and office administration. She has an abundance of experience in this area and is already excelling in her role! Tiffany lives in Virgina with her husband and two daughters. She has a fun and energizing personality yet has the strength and determination needed when talking with insurance companies. If anyone receives a call or email from Tiffany, please give her a warm welcome! Her dedication to her role is definitely allowing me more time to focus on my favorite part, helping many more mommas and babies! 🤱
🚨⚫🚑⚫👩🚒⚫🩺 BEL offers 10% off any out of pocket cost for all Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, and medical professionals! This can apply to any out of pocket cost, gift certificates, and supplies. Hint: Gift certificates make amazing Baby Shower gifts!
For many moms, pumping can be a very big part of their breastfeeding experience! Schedule an appointment to make sure you understand your pump, the settings, and that you are using the correct size flanges. Just like the latch at the breast, pumping should NOT be painful!! www.babyeyeslactation.com
An EXTRA shout out 📣 to all of my hard working parents out there! Being a parent is not easy and you definitely deserve a break! Kick back and try to enjoy this Labor Day Holiday! 😎🇺🇸 BEL will be back in office on Tuesday!
This girl is literally on 🔥 with this one!!! There is a technique to learn and it may look different for every breastfeeding pair. Reach out to schedule an appointment if things are not going as you expected. It's not your fault -and I will do my best to help make your experience better! www.babyeyeslactation.com
No parent wants to WAIT when they are concerned with feeding their baby! I am typically able to offer next day appointments. If you have concerns, call or email today! 🤱 https://babyeyeslactation.com/contact/
World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every August 1-7th! This years theme is “Let’s make breastfeeding and work, work!”. Returning to work after baby continues to be a common reason for women to never try breastfeeding —or stop earlier that’s they wanted to. Thanks to awareness, many workplaces are getting better —but many still have a long way to go! If you know someone struggling with these challenges, please send them my way! I will do my best to help formulate a plan to help!

My ‘Why’
Anyone close to me knows that my family is my world. My husband and I are blessed with three beautiful girls, and when I married my husband, I gained an amazing daughter. I could not have hand picked a better “Big Sis” and role model for our two youngest daughters. As a family, we enjoy traveling and attending just about any University of Louisville sporting event we can. If we’re not on a vacation to Disney World, you can usually find us somewhere on the beach!
My passion is pediatrics. Immediately after graduating from the University of Louisville with my MSN, I began working in a pediatric office. It didn’t take me long to realize just how many new mothers and newborn babies needed lactation support. After struggling to nurse two babies myself, and seeing first hand so many families struggling to find resources, I realized I needed to further my training and skills in lactation.
I’ve always known pediatrics would be my calling, but I had no idea when I started this journey in healthcare that I could feel so passionately about those tiny newborn babies and lactation.
I became a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and with experience, training, and a lot of hard work, later became an IBCLC. By combining my experiences as an APRN, utilizing many of the guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and my continued growth as an IBCLC, I started to see wonderful results with families struggling with lactation.
