2023 for was all about honing my perspective, looking beyond the camera and the “shot” and rather being immesersed in the moment itself.

Grateful for these moments, these subjects, and these opportunities to archive our collectively lived experiences through the most powerful medium I have had the pleasure honor and challenge of learning 🙏🏿📸

This was my first summer putting myself out there FULLY as a freelance photographer, and began it all with my most careful and evanescent gig to-date, the beautiful wedding between & that I had the honor and privilege of capturing alongside my brother ✨

So grateful to my big brother for trusting me despite my nascence, for my new sister for trusting me despite my nonsense lol, and to the surrounding family and friends that welcomed me and my camera into this space, ceremony and community, allowing me to be my best self and produce some of my best work to-date 🫶🏾

It’s beyond an honor, privilege and one of the utmost forms of affirmation seeing my work being appreciated and utilized beyond expectation by 🙏🏿

At the heart of my practice, is my heart, and thus to have my work reflect and contribute to the places, spaces and faces that matter most to me; those that represent our youth — this couldn’t have brought me more joy, or certainty that I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be/destined to do, and becoming exactly who I’m meant to be.

The Summer Block Party was an incredible showing of community, a continued testament to the vitality of community institutions, and a beyond-worthy opportunity to capture these photos and preserve the history of joy on Providence’s Southside ✨

As I produced these headshots that were really only meant to be test shots by , I was overwhelmed with pride, admiration and inspiration from my brother .

I’ve watched, and at times felt like I too experienced all you’ve overcome, over these past few months, and years, as you’ve come into being the man, leader, soldier, and all the roles you fulfill, that you’ve been destined to become.

At risk of aggrandizing an immensely and unquestionably humble spirit, I simply wanted to big you up, not because you don’t get that enough, but because there is no enough for someone as relentlessly dedicated to showing and being love as you are. You showed me how to love myself, and my community, and even my enemies, with the same respect and grace shown to the ones we love.

Whatever the future holds, as you take on who/what you will, I wanted you to know and feel love, and know that your mission and intention of love, will always been known by those of us who’ve known and felt the capacity of your love. Best of luck to those who get to know your wrath, as you fight for who and what you love and believe in (freedom), and may they ultimately see and know the love within your wrath, but most importantly, may they learn and know how best to avoid it from here on 🙏🏿🫡
