The BYU Centennial Carillon was built in 1975 and dedicated on Oct. 10, 1975. Since then, the bells at BYU have been lifting hearts all across campus with live music from the carillonneurs and the phrase "Come, Come Ye Saints" every hour.
Read the dedicatory prayer on one of the photos below to see how the BYU carillon tower was blessed to give us sweet music that inspires us to love and serve Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ even more.
Meet Joshua Fenwick, one of tonight's performers. Joshua is a civil engineering major and a trombonist, but tonight he'll be serenading us from the BYU Centennial Carillon Tower. One of his pieces is called "Moment," a traditional Ukrainian song arranged by Iryna Riabchun. Come hear it tonight at the !
Here is the poem "Moment" is based on, translated into English by Simone Browne. . .
Write on a random envelope
What was left unsaid in your letter
And a step towards a brave death
Be as God knew you.
Look how the morning light breaks
And how beautifully the snow shines
Don't hurry, let her wait
Another moment . . .
Remember that garden near your house,
Where you nurtured your dreams as a child
Where your dad read you bedtime stories
And you sat by the fire with him.
Bring back your first love
Let your soul ache like it did back then
Smile for her one last time
It's better this way
At least so it hurts less.
Write on a plain envelope
What was left unsaid in your life
And a step towards a brave death
Be as God knew you.
Be patient, let her wait another moment . . .
Don't hurry, Spring is coming
In a moment . . .
FREE concert tonight at the ! Bring your family and a picnic dinner and through music.
"ะiั ัะบะฐ ะผiัััะฝะฐ" is a popular Ukrainian folk tune. It's an expression that means the moonlight is so bright, you can see everything in detail.
During dark nights of war and sorrow, it's hard to remember that there is still light in the world. Like the moon reflecting the sun during the dark night, music can remind us that there are still good people in the world, that we can take care of each other until morning comes.
Come listen to this song, known in English as "What a Moonlit Night," and other popular Ukrainian folk tunes at 7 p.m. tomorrow, August 24th to appreciate the light even in the darkest moments. Click on this link for more details: https://fb.me/e/2yABAhUyZ

Celebrating the second day of Christmas with the German Christmas carol "O Du Frรถhliche" ("O Ye Joyful")!
In the early 1800s, the lyricist Johannes Daniel Falk founded a rescue home for abandoned children. Thinking of both the children he cared for and his own children, Falk wrote the lyrics and set them to the anonymous tune "O Sanctissima," creating the angelic carol that he later dedicated to the children of the orphanage.
Enjoy Scott Hummel's ethereal arrangement "Celebration on O Sanctissima" performed by Ariel Peterson Hubbard on the BYU Centennial Carillon.
Premiered at The Guild of Carillonneurs in North America June 2021 Congress. Used with permission by both the arranger and the performer.
