Wisdom Teeth Survival Guide: After Care! 💫

🩹 GAUZE:
Right after your procedure, gently bite down on 4x4 gauze to stop any post-operative bleeding. We’ll give you plenty of gauze to take home with you!

❄️ ICE:
Start by icing right away to effectively reduce swelling. You'll receive two reusable gel packs to take home, so pop them in the freezer and use 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off for the initial 2-3 days.

🌟 PAIN MANAGEMENT
To ensure your utmost comfort during the initial 2-3 days, follow this effective pain management schedule: alternate between Ibuprofen-600 and 2 Extra Strength Tylenol every 3 hours. Consistency is key! ⏰ Don't forget to set alarms, even during the night, to stay on track and alleviate discomfort.

In addition to your pain regimen, you'll also be provided with an antibiotic prescription to start the morning after surgery. Take the antibiotic until all gone! 💊✨

🍦DIET:
Stock up on liquids and soft foods that are gentle on your healing process:
Smoothies (no seeds), Protein Shakes, Greek Yogurt, ice cream, etc….. and more!

The choices are endless, so explore and savor some fun options. Remember to ditch the straws and opt for a spoon to ensure a smooth recovery!

💦RINSING:
In those crucial first 2 days post-extraction, avoid vigorous swishing or spitting to avoid of dry socket risks. 😷
After 48 hours, you can introduce the monoject syringe! ✨ Use warm salt water to gently flush out those lower wisdom tooth extraction sites, cleaning out food or debris. 💧💪

🤕AVOID DRY SOCKET:
In order to avoid dry socket follow these crucial tips: Don’t use straws for 2-3 days. Don't swish or spit for 2 days. Don’t exercise vigorously or lift heavy for 5 days, and don’t smoke for 5-7 days.

🪥HYGIENE: Brushing and flossing is crucial to aid healing. Gently brush and floss your teeth making sure to stay away from the back of your mouth: don’t brush the surgical sites and allow your gums to heal for the first week.

🕰️ Fasting: Remember! Do not eat any food or drink any liquids (including water) for 5-6 hours before your scheduled appointment. Fasting is crucial as it helps reduce the risk of complications during the procedure and ensures the effectiveness of the anesthesia.

💊 Medications: It's still important to take any regularly prescribed medications. It's OK to take your regular medications with a tiny sip of water. And let us know about your medication intake when you arrive for your appointment.

😊 Comfy Clothes and Arm Access: On the big day, it all about comfort! Our amazing team and Certified Nurse Anesthetist will make sure you are safe and comfortable. Please allow access to your arm for IV placement. We are dedicated to helping you feel at ease throughout your journey! 😊

🚫 Exceptions to Fasting: Let us know if you have any specific medical conditions or are taking medications that require food intake. We'll provide personalized instructions to ensure your well-being during the procedure.
