“We ‘hear Him’ in the words of scripture, but do we let them just sit on the page, or do we recognize He is speaking to us? Do we change? …
“I promise that if we ‘feast upon the words of Christ’ [2 Nephi 32:3] … the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.’ We are Heavenly Father’s children and He is our God.” —Elder Ronald A. Rasband , general conference, Apr. 2024

“He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened” (Mosiah 16:9).
Just as a sunflower’s face follows the sun from sunrise to sunset, turning its petals toward the source of light, so too should we continually orient ourselves toward the Son of God.
As followers of Christ, we can choose to bask in the light of His love and keep our eyes on Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ lives, and you can at general conference through the Spirit in messages given by His servants. The Savior invites us to “learn of [Him], and listen to [His] words; walk in the meekness of [His] Spirit, and you shall have peace in [Him]” (Doctrine and Covenants 19:23).
All are welcome and invited to hear messages about the hope, peace, and joy made possible because of Jesus Christ. Join us April 6–7 at and hear the message God has for you.

Ponder this year’s theme: “Because of Him, I can _____.”
Use and share your witness of the living Christ.
“During His earthly ministry, Jesus so perfectly … ‘went about doing good’ unto all people, inviting them to come unto Him … regardless of their origin, social class, or cultural characteristics. …
“Especially those who at the time were considered different, belittled, or excluded. He denied none but treated them with equity and love, for He saw them as His brothers and sisters, sons and daughters of the same Father.” — Elder Ulisses Soares (“Brothers and Sisters in Christ,” general conference, Oct. 2023)
Jesus Christ gave us the perfect example of what it means to love our neighbor. While our neighbors can actually be the people living next to us, our neighbors are often people not in our social circles.
By following His example, you can learn to see and love others. Reaching out and loving your neighbor can be helpful to them, and it can be transformative for you.

On Valentine’s Day, people the world over celebrate love. But what does the word “love” really mean? Is it about flowers, chocolate, and gifts? Certainly, at times, it can be. But the second great commandment teaches of a different kind of love—that of actively loving our neighbor.
Giving help to others—making a conscientious effort to care about others as much as or more than we care about ourselves—is our joy. Especially, I might add, when it is not convenient and when it takes us out of our comfort zone. Living that second great commandment is the key to becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ.
Of course, we must remember that the second great commandment follows an even greater commandment—which is the commandment to first love God.
We often see people in the world today ignore the first commandment. And yet, when we obey the first commandment, we are much better equipped to keep the second commandment.
It has been my privilege to witness the impact of many humanitarian efforts around the world made by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Today, may we use this holiday dedicated to love as a reminder to recommit to loving our neighbor—whether they live in the house next door or across the globe.
