A veteran owned, family run, organic food growing company.
Good morning Oklahoma. A beautiful Great Blue Heron has graced our homestead. We hope you enjoy your Wednesday.
We got some rain last night. Have a few Olives and Sichuan Peppercorns showing up this year which bodes well for the future of the farm.
And look at these bananas! Plus the tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants look amazing.
Got a late start with the broken leg and all but we've got some green stuff growing. From Okra, Sunflowers, Sunchokes, peppers and tomatoes, even bananas, guavas, and citrus.
Should we add some Roselle to our homestead?

Our various banana plants have arrived and been planted in grow pots.
We should have fresh banana's here in just a year or two for personal eating and in a few years we should have fresh small batch banana's for sale at the farmers market.
Can't wait to share.
This week we were able to plant 3 Cornellian cherries, 3 White Nanking cherries, 1 Black cherry, and a ton of onions around the properties perimeter to keep down the ticks, rabbits, and deer. Yes one of the family members went around the entire backyard every 8 inches and placed an onion.
A huge shout out to the women in the house who are covering down for an old disabled veteran with a broken leg.
After a smashing Easter morning with the kiddos and family, the Mrs. put in our final two Apples, two more Seaberries, nine Raspberries, four Gooseberries, and two Golden Currants.
While I nurse a broken leg the women of the house spent the week expanding our orchard and planting berries.
We have added several red fleshed apples, jujubes, almonds, a bunch of peaches, several varieties of American, European, and Japanese plums.
Added 36 strawberry plants thanks to Atwood's having them for $0.96 apiece.
This week we should get some more Pawpaw's, Szechuan Peppercorn, Cornellian Cherry, Apricots and Apriums, our dwarf Asian pears, Baby Shipova, Mojo Mulberry, Serviceberries, and a few other treats.
Do to unforseen circumstances and the inability to overcome those circumstances we will not be offering any live plants this year as we had hoped and more than likely will not very much produce to sell either.
Here's to next year.
Put in a 15 gallon Pawpaw tree in today. Small Hugelkulture ring to control standing water that will eventually break down into compost. Now to add companion plants.
We hope to tell a story like this one day.

Coming soon to your local berry patch...….a 30 x 60 greenhouse.
We applied for a USDA - NRCS grant which would provide us the funds to purchase a high tunnel greenhouse and have it fully installed.
This is a big win for us. Currently our 12 Cold Hardy Pomegranates
are exposed to their breaking point with these low temperatures in NE Oklahoma. We can now move them into the high tunnel and not have to worry about winter protections for years to come.
The pomegranates wont take the whole space up though so we will use the other half for 20+ Citrus trees and a small chicken coop.
Pictures to come this spring.
Its almost spring and we have started our seeds!
This year we will be selling 1 gallon Peppers, Eggplants, Tomatoes, Huckleberries (Solanum), Basil, Melons and Pumpkins.
Might add a few more things for purchase if we have good germination on other items.
I don't have a set price yet as its something we are mulling over.
Have a blessed week.
The upcoming weather is a bit extreme even for us here in Oklahoma so the team was out today repairing the ruts in our driveway and throwing down straw on everything that could use some insulation.
Keep your fingers crossed that our pomegranate's survive. They are cold hardy but not to -3.
Our partner is pretty talented. Looking forward to joining our skills together in 2024.
Happy New Year!
A quick update here from the Orchard.
We have about about 110ish trees in ground now! Slowed down to be able to have Christmas for the family. Hope to have 140+ trees by summer.
Have a Happy Holidays everyone!
Pawpaw has made it to Sunday Mornings.
A sweet celebration of pawpaw fruit The fruit of the pawpaw tree, part of the custard apple family, appears to be tropical, but it grows wild in more than 20 states and Canada, and was a favorite of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Today, it's the official native fruit of Ohio, which hosts an annual pawpaw festival. Corresponde...
We have 3 Quince trees here on the property. I would have more but we don't have anymore room at the moment.

Hazelnut
Mexican Plum
Jujube
Medlar
and Peach trees.
