Focus on protecting your eyes on April 8, when a total solar eclipse crosses the U.S. from Texas to Maine.

You can prevent damage to your retinas or possible blindness by doing the following:
1. Do not stare directly at the eclipse.
2. Wear safe, certified “eclipse glasses” or use hand-held solar viewers (ISO 12312-2). Ordinary sunglasses do not provide enough protection.
3. Design a pinhole projector to look indirectly at the eclipse.
