Families are being forced to make choices: Pay for rent, or food? Medications, or utility bills? Car payment, or car repairs?
Many Charlotte County families choose rent, knowing they can rely on local food banks for groceries.
Families are one paycheck away from disaster. All it takes is one car repair, medical bill, or other unexpected expense to send them over the edge.
Cost-burdened households are those who pay more than 30% of their income on housing. A renter paying more than 30% of their income on rent will never be able to save up for a down payment on a house.
Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion.
Y'all did a thing tonight ๐๐ Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity is an opportunity for families to achieve affordable Homeownership, an opportunity for the community to volunteer alongside our donors & future homeowners and an opportunity to shop in our stores to fund our programs... Because of YOU we were named the NON-PROFIT OF THE YEAR at the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet tonight. Thank you for supporting the Habitat Mission in Charlotte County and for recognizing everyone's hard work!
Matthew 25:40- Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.
๐๐ Great Futures Start Here. Volunteers are the Heart of Habitat. Affordable Homeownership. Community Cares.
Yesterday, we raised the walls on the Adam's family Habitat home! Future Homeowner Cindy was joined by a great group of volunteers including her family, staff members from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlotte County, and long-time volunteers Don and Jim. These wonderful volunteers battled the Florida heat and came out to make her dreams of becoming a homeowner come true.
We are grateful to Charlotte County Ford for sponsoring another Habitat home. We look forward to seeing the progression of this new build! ๐ท ๐ ๏ธ๐ก
Thank you to Florida Gulf Coast University for inviting us to their Service-Learning Fair yesterday! Out Volunteer Coordinator, Jill and Marketing Coordinator, Kaila, enjoyed speaking with students about the many volunteer opportunities with Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity. FGCU students must fulfill 80 hours of community service within their community in order to graduate and they learned about the ways they can do that in our ReSale stores, on our construction sites, and in our office. We look forward to seeing many of these students soon!
Congratulations to Ava and Carson who won our tumbler giveaway!
Habitat for Humanity ReStores are more than home improvement stores and donation centers for gently used furniture, appliances, home goods, and building materials. Charlotte County Habitat ReSale Stores turn the sale of their high-quality, constantly changing inventory into opportunities for families to achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership, housing, and financial counseling.

Thank you to members of Charlotte High Schoolโs NJROTC for joining us this past Saturday on one of our job sites. The group helped nail the up exterior sheathing on the house. Future Homeowner Natalie stopped by and brought popsicles for everyone as a treat to cool down from the Florida heat.

The Cuozzo Family have officially become Habitat homeowners after signing their closing documents on Friday afternoon.
"Due to the high rent in our area, I was unable to find a place that I could afford for me and my son. Partnering with Habitat has helped my small family immensely. My son is autistic and has specific routines for his day-to-day activities. Having our own home and him having his own space is truly a blessing." - Vicent Cuozzo

Friday afternoon the Hernandez Family officially closed on their new home and became Habitat homeowners.
"I am a single parent and sole provider to two wonderful boys. It has been difficult finding an affordable place to live with a single income. It means everything to me to be able to provide my children a safe space that they can finally call their own. This is the beginning that I have been praying for since we left New Jersey six years ago. I'm excited to see my children's faces light up when we move in." -Ashley Hernandez

Thank you to Jason and Josh from Rockwell Building Systems, LLC, who joined future homeowner Brianna and other volunteers to help install the siding on this Habitat home. They did a great job in getting it installed before the afternoon showers hit yesterday!
Staff from our Port Charlotte ReSale store location, our drivers, and our Shipping & Receiving department were getting ready for the day and sporting our new staff t-shirts. A big thank you to Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce, who sponsored our staff shirts!
