Hey Everyone- Sorry I've been so quiet with projects. I've been working on some contract work with a company on the east coast and haven't had as much time in my shop for personal projects. I plan on getting in the shop this weekend and churning out a few pieces. Stay tuned!

Today I finished a commission for someone who was looking for a memorial ring containing the cremains of her beloved husky, Lobo.

Memorial commissions are something I take very seriously. When I asked my client about Lobo, she spoke of the adventures that they went on with such passion. Then she shared this Lobo memorial tattoo with me, and I knew what I was going to try and emulate.

I used the titanium mountain range ring band and tried to get the feel of the northern lights that I grew up with. I mixed Lobo’s cremains with a photo chromatic powder that turns from white/grey to purple when exposed to UV. The northern lights are blue, green, and pink mica mixed with glow powders of their respective colors.

Being trusted to make these memorial rings is something I take very seriously. I hope I did Lobo’s memory justice with this one.

Here’s the finished distraction I mean ring.

I’ve been trying to get a ring that invokes a lava field, and I’m getting closer. This is the second ring I’ve done without a channel, building the ring up in layers, and I’m happy with that part of the process.
