I really enjoy taking our student members to Kiwanis meetings. I’m always so proud of how well they represent QHS and themselves.
Again, this year, Key Club will be helping to raise money for this very worthy cause. If you can donate here, please do. We are also going to run a contest next week during the school day. If you want to send any money to school with your student, they can enter into a drawing to be able to pie a faculty member at the last pep rally on November 3. Details will be shared soon.
Quitman High School Key Club is raising funds for UNICEF USA We are raising money for UNICEF’s programs for children around the world. Please donate and show support!
We had our first meeting for this school year. Great turn out. Students ate some pizza, played some trivia, learned some basics about being a member, and ended the meeting by filling out thank you cards for our high school teachers for World Teacher Day. Congratulations to Annika and Averi for completing the Global Leadership Certificate training this summer.
Big thanks to our new editor Averi Ryan for working so hard on this first newsletter.
The membership drive is going on right now, and we are excited to see so many freshmen signing up. Our first meeting is October 3rd during lunch. More details to come.

Huge thank you to Quitman/Lake Fork Kiwanis Club and Quitman ISD for making this trip possible. In addition, Michelle Presley and Rick Brown for driving and helping to chaperone.
We’re home safe and sound and tired! Here are a couple of pics from the governor’s ball. They said they had fun. It was a “mosh pit”! I will say that our students were very respectful and responsible. They acted with dignity at all times. Thanks to everyone who has a part in raising these amazing young adults. I could not be more proud. We are in good hands!
A couple more! 16 of the 21 recipients and the girls with the interviewers. The interviewers were very complimentary of the girls.
Awards banquet
In addition, of nine Quitman applicants for the scholarships, eight of our members were chosen for interviews. They all are amazing people. The competition here is tough. Some big schools!!
I am so proud to let you know that we had three scholarship recipients: Sarah Smith, Kameran Farnham, and Joisalyn Tarno. These three ladies were chosen out of 62 other applicants.
Leadership luncheon was informative and entertaining.
Voting Caucus. Voting for next year’s governing board. We listened to 13 candidates’ speeches and now the members are voting for the top two. Two delegates, Jojo and Jake, will vote this afternoon from the top two in each position. We are all learning a lot about the process of electing government officials.
First General Session in the books. Great speaker and interesting to see what other clubbers are doing. Getting lots of ideas and motivation to do more at next year’s convention!
Quitman Key Club was just recognized in the general session as a club with 50% membership increase!
