Contact information, map and directions, contact form, opening hours, services, ratings, photos, videos and announcements from Sarah Takes a Hike with Jenni B. - July 2024, Sports Event, Quitman, TX.
She’s small but mighty! I got my ultra light Big Agnes’s Fly Creek HV tent set up to make sure all is good before Jenni and I’s Collegiate Loop hike this July!
Oh we are getting ready! Trip to REI in Dallas! Jenni got a new pack and we both got new shoes! Time to break them in! C’mon July. We can’t wait!!
I’m on the move again. This summer I will tackle the Colorado Trail Collegiate Loop for 180 miles from July 13 - 29 with an awesome female veteran (USMC) Jenni Biesheuvel!! This is our goal to complete this loop in 14 days! Come along with us!!
Day 3: We left during a beautiful cool morning and a nice sleep at the Mayor’s house. Rode to Emmettsburg 56 miles away! Our host there was the First Methodist church with a nice room and great hospitality. We had some bike maintenance to do and got back in the route! The afternoon was so hot and the last 7 miles were brutal with the hot heat! But we survived to carry on our mission of raising awareness and raising funds for Boot Campaign. Tomorrow’s ride is 103 miles 😬😮! Send us some love and cheers for our ride tomorrow, please!!

Day 2: Beautiful morning starting off at old town winery in Ida Grove. The day was difficult as I had bike problems with my gears and we had thunderstorms all day! The rain made it hard but we survived! We stayed in Plover, Iowa in the town Mayor’s house. Kirk and his wife Katie were fabulous hosts! We had a nice pizza dinner from Casey’s and a quick game of Mexican train before we hit the hay! We have met so many riders as we share our story of Boot Campaign and our “You Matter” message.

Day 0: Sergeant Bluff!! Met our host family, Matt and Jenn, who graciously housed us all, fed us and gave us rhubarb/strawberry pie! Yum! The local American Legion Post 662 provide yummy cookies and deserts too! We had a chance to stroll the expo in town and dipped our back tire in Missouri River water - a RAGBRAI tradition. Tomorrow we peddle East and ride out hearts out to raise money for Veterans!

Myself, Steve, Cassie Cantin, our cousins: Jesse (J.t.), Mandi, Tommy, Emma (MJ) and Klara Brown will make the ride. We will have my awesome In-Laws, Steven and Joyce driving the support vehicle. We are all currently training and getting ourselves psyched for this event.

Soooo Steve and I have decided to complete one of our Bucket list items by joining RAGBRAI in July. What is RAGBRAI you ask. Well it is an 8 day bicycle "RIDE" across the state of Iowa in the dead of summer (23 Jul-30 Jul) to raise money for Boot Campaign. We will be joined by other enthusiastic people trying to push their bodies to the brink, as well, all in the name of supporting a great cause. More information to come but for know, we invite each and everyone to join us, physically by riding with us, mentally by sending awesome positive vibes, sharing our mission in raising awareness and lastly, by donating to help Boot Campaign help other Veterans as they have helped Steve, myself and others who will be riding with us. Let's roll!!!!
I did a thing! To commemorate my 2020 hike of the CT, I got an awesome tattoo using photos of wildflowers and scenic views that I took when hiking! I love it!
We made the Fall 2020 Edition of the Colorado Trail Foundation news letter!! Loved my CT Tramily!! #

Some great news. 1 month after finishing the Colorado Trail, I was hired by the same military non-profit I was raising money for on my hike - The Boot Campaign! I am now their Case Manager for the Health and Wellness program. It’s an exceptional foundation that helps veterans from any era with personalized treatments and case management. I couldn’t have landed in a better place that fills my heart working with incredible women who give their all to our military community! if you are seeking help please go to www.bootcampaign.org

I have been home a week now since finishing up the Colorado Trail and I am finally feeling better physically. It definitely took a toll on my body but in a good hard way!! I am back to walking about 2-3 miles in the morning which feels good and it’s good for Cheyenne to get some energy out. I go back to school next week to begin my 2nd year of my Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling! I want to give a HUGE Thank You to each and every person here for their support on this journey of mine! It was so great to get so many encouraging and kind words to help me get through it all. I could not be more grateful and thankful for the incredible tribe I have in my corner! Each contribution given to the Boot Campaign will be to help another Veteran and I couldn’t be more proud of ya’ll for doing your part in donating, sharing the posts, giving encouragement and taking the time to listen to the plight of our Veterans who are in need of assistance.... I THANK YOU and APPRECIATE YOU!!!!
I can’t go without giving a shout out to the unsung hero in this entire adventure and that’s my Hubby, Steve! He held down the fort, finished up his Gunsmithing school, got a job immediately afterwards, was my shuttle driver, food resupplier, foot rubber, schedule manager and encouraged me each step of the way unconditionally!! What a great partner in life! I owe you the world, Babe!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
