This is a great opportunity for those looking to get some hands-on training for Humminbird and Minn Kota products.

New On-The-Water Humminbird and Minn Kota training opportunities are now available.

On Tuesday June 25, I’ll be training on Lake Menomin near Menomonie WI:



On Thursday June 27, I’ll be training on White Bear Lake in White Bear Lake, MN



The training fee is $200 for a 2-hour session in your boat or $250 for a 2-hour session in mine. The trainee will also be responsible for any launch/access fees for their boat. Note that these are not fishing trips. I won’t be guiding you. The rods are staying in the locker. I’ll be teaching you to operate, interpret, and optimize your electronics.

Advance reservations by email or Facebook PM are necessary and a deposit will be required to lock in your time slot.

Evening Paddle at River Bend Nature Center

Racine, WI - Experience the peace and magic of nightfall on the summer river. River Bend Nature Center is extending canoe and kayak rental hours on June 14th, the evening of the full moon, so that you can enjoy the river at dusk. Launch between 5pm-6:30pm, return by 8:30pm.

Paddling on this evening is by reservation only.

$30 per boat/ $25 for members

Can't make the paddle at sunset?

Canoes and kayaks are also available to rent Monday-Friday 8am -4pm and Saturday - Sunday 9am- 5pm.

Canoeing / Kayaking classes

Ages: 14 to adult

Have you always wanted to explore the Root River and love the idea of paddling with your family, but your only experience in a canoe was when you were a kid at summer camp? Gain the skill, knowledge and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of paddling when you take our introductory canoe or kayak class!

Taught by American Canoe Association certified instructors, and following all ACA guidelines, participants will learn terminology, basic strokes, and partner cooperation, with a focus on safety and responsible paddling during our 3-hour class.

Introduction to Kayaking:
Saturday May 28, 9:00-12:00
Saturday June 11, 9:00-12:00
Saturday July 23, 9:00-12:00

Introduction to Canoeing:
Saturday June 25, 9:00-12:00
Saturday September 17, 9:00-12:00

Our friends at the REC will be opening for the season on June 10 in case you want to get out and rent a kayak this summer.

Canoe and kayak rentals will be available starting this weekend here at River Bend!

Boat rentals are on a 1st come 1st served basis. Rental hours are 8:00 to 4:00 on weekdays and 9:00 to 5:00 on weekends, weather and river conditions permitting. We stop letting boats go out 1 hour before closing.

$20 / members, $25 / non-members per boat / up to 3 hours. Life jackets are included with all boat rentals.

Sometimes after a heavy rain the river is flowing too fast for us to allow boat rentals. You can check the current river conditions here: https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=04087240. Scroll down and look at the discharge graph. If the latest value is over 600 cubic feet per second then we are not renting boats.
