C*C would like to share a small business that is near and dear to our hearts. Adara Spa, located in downtown Raleigh, is a unique place to socialize, settle down, and get away from the stresses of the world. They offer a large variety of services, including facials, massages, manicures and pedicures, hair, makeup, and more.

We recently visited both of their locations and were dazzled by the intense attention to detail that went into designing and decorating the spaces, as well as the pleasant atmosphere that extends to every part of the spa, from the waiting room to the massage table. We spoke with Elizabeth, an employee that shared her favorite aspects of working there.

"There is no part of the process that feels rushed. We really focus on the experience of our clients, and want to make sure that the atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant from the minute you walk through the doors." Clients have plenty of time to settle in, chat, have some mimosas, and get comfortable before their appointment begins. Elizabeth also mentioned that Sunny, the owner of Adara Spa, is a pleasure to work with, and very open to new ideas, which creates a collaborative and dynamic work environment. If you are looking to indulge in some self-care while supporting a minority-owned small business, Adara Spa is the place for you!

Thank you to Adara Spa and the staff for having us over, book an appointment with them today at http://www.adaraspa.com

Behavioral interviews are this week! Here are a few tips to help prepare for your interview:

#1: Come prepared with relevant examples of past experiences in which you’ve demonstrated a wide variety of desirable skills. This includes experiences outside of academics and work.

#2: use the star (situation, task, action, result) format when answering behavioral questions.

•Situation: an event, project, or challenge you’ve faced

•Task: your responsibilities and assignments for that situation

•Action: steps taken to address the situation

•Result: the outcome of the actions taken

#3: if you don’t have a response prepared for a certain question stop and take time to reflect and think of a response. Instead of saying whatever comes to mind, ask your interviewer for a moment to think about the question.

#4: Be confident in your responses and be aware of your body language.

#5: Ask questions and show engagement.

Hope this helps, good luck to all!

Fall of 2018, Consult Your Community - NC State Chapter came to us and asked us to be a client. We felt so small then and were 💯 not sure about ourselves. “Are you sure?”

Three years later and three times bigger we can look back and see their influence on our nonprofit through website design, wholesale, interns, and a younger social media demographic.

We got to be with their 2020-2021 team last night and it was our pure pleasure to reconnect.

Even more exciting, we learned this semester their clients are friends 700 Rivers and Shield NC.

Good work, NC State University, for investing in local nonprofits and empowering and equipping leaders.

🏙Engagement Spotlight 🏙

This semester our chapter has been serving District C - a non-profit dedicated to changing the way schools prepare students to be ready for the workforce.
District C engages the classroom with the real-world problems provided by local Raleigh businesses, perfectly blending the structure and guidance provided by the classroom with the fast-paced nature of the real world.

Our team was focused on scaling enrollment in District C’s flagship program - the Coaching Institute. This program teaches educators how to prepare their students to solve complex problems and work on diverse teams. By allowing students to partner with real businesses in the Raleigh area, District C is able to provide growth opportunities few programs can compare to.

Some of our recommendations focused on achieving accreditation through the state’s and nation’s most prestigious organizations, tracking the success of the program through pre and post student assessments and creating a partnership with NC State’s College of Education to train the educators of tomorrow.

Creating value for organizations like District C is our favorite thing to do and it’s how we love to serve our community!

Check out District C’s website here: http://pos.li/2e8xcw

District C Through our Coaching Institute, we train teachers to coach our “C Squad” program, a learning experience that teaches students how to work together to solve real problems.
