Oak City Cycling Project
Bikes and Nice Folks that like 'em.
A local, independent cycling shop in Downtown Raleigh, NC focused on increasing bicycle ridership through sales, service, outreach, and community.
For your dopamine seeking pleasure, we will be leading a Sunflower Cruise to Dix Park on Saturday, July 16. 6.6 miles round trip, party pace, no drop. Meet at the shop. Roll at 5:30pm. encouraged but not required.
Last weekend’s WTFNBGNC campout was…everything. It was the biggest one we’ve ever hosted by a LOT. Sixteen (!) riders embarked with us, more than half of them for their first bike camping trip, and some of them for their first ever group ride. We are so proud of everyone who showed up to do something for the first time with a bunch of new people, and we are so proud of all the seasoned bikepackers who welcomed them.
We kept it accessible with a grant from that paid for the campsites, Chipotle for dinner, and plenty of snacks. How neat is that? We have big time warm fuzzies for this community. Big thanks also to everyone who lent us their gear. We could have probably done it without you but it’s delightful that we didn’t have to!
We're gonna learn the greenway on this series of 4 no-drop Sunday rides. The greenway can be kind of confusing and it's nice to have a pal show you the way. We'll ride a bunch of different sections and see how they fit together.

Tonight! Calling all two-seated pedaling devices for a tandem themed Third Thursday Cruiser ride!
Don’t have one of these whacky long bikes? That’s ok, all bikes are welcome. Meet at the shop at 7 p.m. tonight for a soft 7:30 rollout and ~ 10 miles (probably less) of conversational goodness.
Bring your lights and helmets and be ready to smile a lot.
New bike day for JT! He ended up being spoiled for choice when it came to a new mountain bike (that almost never happens these days) but ultimately the Salsa Rangefinder Deore was the standout option. Happy trails to you and your adorable family.
New bike day for Mike of ! These best buds are down here on tour from the Midwest. We were super bummed to hear that Mike’s bike was totaled in an auto collision (he came away with some stitches), but so psyched that we could help them keep riding. The vibes are gr8 with these two and no doubt their tour shall runneth over with stoke.
The wind is picking up speed, the creatures are stirring and the spirits are getting restless in the walls…. 👻
Join us tomorrow for the Third Thursday Cruiser Ride Spooky Edition! Meet at the shop at 7 p.m. and roll out at a sneaky 7:30 for an ectoplasm dripping sub 10 miler.
We will hang out back at the shop afterwards, and if enough folks come dressed up, will host an impromptu costume contest with a prize.
So come one, come all, if ye dare. ☠️

New blue bike day for Henry!! Jason put together this sweet custom build just for him.
New bike day for Corrie! She’s graduating from a balance bike to this PANK Hedgehog.
Veteran bike-tourer Glen came to us a few months ago with dreams of the ultimate touring rig for him and his dog. Like whoa, were we excited. We heckin' love a good doge, more than pretty much anything else. Ever. Belly rubs and fetchin and snugs and cold, wet nose boops. 😍
Anyways, Glen let us run away with this Rock Tour and boy howdy did we. Split for a belt drive, we chucked a 14-speed (ya, 14 y'all) Rohloff hub and a Gates on this puppy. Combined with for all your stopping needs and a hub for lighting the way at all times, you can pedal late into the night looking for the best camp spot for you and your furry bud.
Make sure to check back around for the trailer and dog content down the road. Thanks again Glen!
Have fun on multiple surfaces with your new Nature Cross, Grey!
Out of an abundance of caution we will be closed today and for as many subsequent days as needed. Unfortunately, someone close to our team tested positive for COVID-19 and we will be taking the time to have the staff tested.
Thanks in advance for y’all’s patience with us. We’ve worked really hard to keep the doors open this year while we serve our community safely. We’re going to continue to do our best and put everyone’s health first.
Wear a mask, social distance, check on your friends and family, think of the people around you. Let’s get on the other side of this. ❤️
The shop will be closed December 24th through January 1st so we can all take a nap. See you January 2nd!
Have a good one and stay safe!

New bike day for Bill! His favorite color is Sour Strawberry Sparkle! He’s so excited! So are we!!
New bike day for Jon! He’s back in the saddle and optimistic as ever after a bit of a rough start to the year. He was struck by a motorist and out of commission for 6 months. It really made our day to see him back on two wheels.
"The feeling of riding a bike is like when you see the sunrise -- different colors that make you feel different things. Like when you ride up a steep hill, you are determined to get to the top, and when you get there, it feels like someone just gave you a present. I use biking as a distraction from my troubles and mostly for having fun. Fun is something that you can put into many things, and my fun is in riding a bike." - Heidi Rose, age 10
New bike day for Carolyn and this blue panther!
