Hello Friends of The Retreads. We have missed being out as much as everyone does and were excited about gigs we had lined up. So, in quarantine, I decided to do a little home recording. One of my favorite artists has always been the late Tom Petty. This is one of his lesser known songs, but a favorite that seems to be appropriate right now. You may have to turn the volume up a bit. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks Neil Peart for all you did for the world of drumming. There will always be opinions on who is the best in a profession, but I would say Neil probably does win for rock drumming not just because of skill, but for being an innovator and inspiration to many. John Bonham is right there with him. This does not diminish any others from Stewart Copeland to Ringo, Phil Collins, Dave Grohl, Bill Buford, Keith Moon, keep naming them! This side by side picture is the same drum set I learned on in high school and took to college eventually. I recall trying to play Tom Sawyer in my basement (thank you family for putting up with those loud sessions - electric drums were not big in those days). I never did master that song, or many other rush songs, but it certainly did help me when I tackled easier rock songs. I will always remain a drummer at heart, it is the heartbeat of any band. RIP N.P. - thanks for making me dream!
