🚫 Materials You Should Avoid for Home Renovations 🚫

When planning a renovation, choosing the right materials is key to ensuring durability, functionality, and aesthetics. Some materials, though tempting due to their price or look, can cause problems down the road. Here are a few materials you might want to avoid:

1️⃣ Low-Quality Laminate Flooring
While budget-friendly, cheap laminate can wear out quickly, especially in high-traffic areas. It's prone to scratching, moisture damage, and peeling, leading to a short lifespan.

2️⃣ Cheap Paints
Inexpensive paint may seem like a quick win, but it often requires more coats, fades quickly, and is less resistant to stains and moisture. This can lead to more frequent touch-ups and a dull appearance over time.

3️⃣ Particle Board for Cabinets
Although affordable, particle board isn’t durable and can easily warp or swell when exposed to moisture. This makes it a poor choice for kitchens or bathrooms where humidity is a factor.

4️⃣ Vinyl Wall Coverings in Humid Areas
Vinyl wallpapers may seem appealing, but in humid areas like bathrooms, they can trap moisture and lead to mold growth. Opt for moisture-resistant materials instead.

5️⃣ Subpar Tile Adhesives
Using low-quality adhesives for tiles may save money upfront, but it can lead to loose tiles, cracking, or uneven surfaces over time. Always invest in high-quality materials for lasting results.

✨ Pro Tip: Always prioritize quality over cost when choosing materials for renovations. It might cost more upfront, but it will save you from costly repairs and replacements later! ✨

✨ About Brutalism Interior Style ✨

Are you drawn to bold, raw aesthetics and minimalist yet striking designs? The Brutalism interior style might be what you're looking for! Known for its unapologetic use of concrete and exposed materials, Brutalism offers a unique, industrial edge that makes a strong statement.

🤓 History of Brutalism Style:

Brutalism originated in the mid-20th century as an architectural movement that emphasized raw, unfinished materials and functionality. It gained popularity after World War II, focusing on strong, geometric shapes and minimal decorative elements. The term "Brutalism" comes from the French word "béton brut," meaning raw concrete, which is a hallmark of this style.

🌟 Elements of Brutalism Style:

1️⃣ Raw Materials and Stark Textures

Brutalism is all about embracing the beauty of raw, unfinished materials. Concrete, exposed brick, steel, and natural wood are key elements of this style, creating a rugged, industrial look. These materials give the space a sense of honesty and authenticity, stripping away the superfluous to reveal the true essence of the structure. Texture plays a significant role, with rough surfaces that add depth and character to the space.

2️⃣ Monochromatic Color Palette

In Brutalist interiors, color is often kept to a minimum, with monochromatic schemes dominating the space. Shades of gray, black, white, and earthy tones are common, reinforcing the minimalist, industrial feel. The lack of vibrant colors shifts the focus to the materials and form, allowing the architecture and design elements to take center stage.

3️⃣ Functional and Geometric Furniture

Furniture in Brutalism interiors is as minimalist and functional as the architecture. Look for pieces with strong, geometric lines and simple, utilitarian designs. Furniture is often made from industrial materials like metal, concrete, or wood, offering durability and simplicity. In a Brutalist space, every piece serves a purpose, with no room for excess or unnecessary ornamentation.

4️⃣ Minimalist Decorative Accents

Decor in Brutalism is sparse, focusing on function rather than flair. However, this doesn't mean the space feels cold or unwelcoming. Th

❌🛠5 Common Mistakes People Make When Planning a Renovation and How to Avoid Them📝❌

Renovating your home can be an exciting project, but it can also be stressful if not planned correctly. Here are some common mistakes people make when planning a renovation and tips on how to avoid them:

1️⃣ Not Setting a Realistic Budget
One of the biggest mistakes people make is not having a clear budget from the start. Unexpected costs can quickly add up, leaving you overwhelmed and overspending.
🌟Tip: Always set a realistic budget and add a 10-20% cushion for unexpected expenses.

2️⃣ Skipping the Planning Stage
Rushing into a renovation without proper planning can lead to design flaws and wasted resources.
🌟Tip: Take the time to plan out every detail, from layout to materials, before starting any work.

3️⃣ Choosing Trends Over Timelessness
While it's tempting to go for the latest design trends, these can quickly become outdated.
🌟Tip: Choose timeless styles and materials that will look good for years to come, ensuring your renovation adds long-term value to your home.

4️⃣ Ignoring the Flow of the Home
A renovation should enhance the functionality of your space, not disrupt it.
🌟Tip: Consider how changes will affect the flow of your home and whether they will make day-to-day living more convenient.

5️⃣ Hiring the Wrong Professionals
Cutting corners by hiring unqualified or cheap labor can result in poor craftsmanship and costly mistakes.
🌟Tip: Always do your research and hire experienced professionals with solid reputations. It's worth investing in quality work to ensure your renovation is done right.

Avoiding these common mistakes will help ensure your renovation is smooth, successful, and stress-free. Ready to start your dream renovation? Contact us today to learn how we can help!🔥

❌🛠What You Shouldn't Do During Renovations🛠❌

Here are a few things you should definitely avoid during renovations:

1️⃣ Don’t Skip the Planning Stage
Before you pick up a hammer or start tearing down walls, make sure you have a clear plan in place. This means setting a budget, establishing a timeline, and knowing exactly what you want. Skipping this step can lead to costly mistakes, delays, and a lot of stress.

2️⃣ Don’t Underestimate the Budget
Renovations almost always cost more than you expect. Make sure to allocate a buffer of at least 10-20% above your budget for unexpected expenses. Cutting corners might seem like a way to save money, but it often leads to bigger problems down the line.

3️⃣ Don’t DIY Everything
While DIY projects can save money and be very satisfying, there are some tasks best left to the professionals, such as electrical work, plumbing, and structural changes. Attempting these on your own without the proper knowledge can be dangerous and end up costing more to fix.

4️⃣ Don’t Ignore Permits and Regulations
Skipping necessary permits and ignoring local building regulations might save you time in the short term, but it can result in hefty fines, forced changes, or problems when you want to sell your home. Always check with your local authorities to ensure you’re compliant with the law.

5️⃣ Don’t Choose Trends Over Timelessness
It’s easy to get caught up in the latest design trends, but remember that renovations are a long-term investment. Choose styles, colors, and materials that you’ll love for years to come, not just what’s popular right now.

6️⃣ Don’t Forget About Functionality
Beautiful designs are great, but your home needs to be functional. Make sure your renovation choices work for your lifestyle and needs. Think about storage, flow, and usability to ensure your newly renovated space is both beautiful and practical.

✨ About Colonial Interior Style ✨

Would you like to bring a touch of timeless elegance and historical charm into your home? The Colonial interior style might be just what you’re looking for! Rooted in the rich history of America’s early settlers, this style effortlessly blends a variety of design influences.

🤓 History of Colonial Style:

Colonial interior design draws inspiration from the 17th and 18th centuries, reflecting the aesthetics of America’s colonial period. It incorporates English, French, Dutch, and Spanish influences, resulting in a versatile and enduring style that stands the test of time.

🌟 Elements of Colonial Style:

1️⃣ Natural Materials and Warm Textures

One of the defining features of the Colonial style is its use of natural materials. Rich, dark woods like mahogany, cherry, and oak add a sense of warmth and sophistication. Floors are often made of wide-plank hardwood, creating a solid foundation that reflects the craftsmanship of the era. To add comfort and texture, incorporate natural fiber rugs, woven baskets, and linen or cotton fabrics in your upholstery and window treatments.

2️⃣ Classic Colors and Patterns

Colonial interiors typically feature a muted color palette inspired by nature. Soft creams, warm beiges, deep blues, and muted greens are all common choices that evoke a sense of calm and comfort. For a touch of authenticity, consider classic patterns like stripes, florals, or checks, which are often seen in upholstery, wallpaper, and decorative accents.

3️⃣ Elegant yet Durable Furniture

Furniture in a Colonial-style interior is all about quality and craftsmanship. Look for pieces with clean lines, turned legs, and simple yet elegant details. Iconic Colonial furniture includes Windsor chairs, four-poster beds, and highboys, which add a touch of historical charm while remaining highly functional.

4️⃣ Thoughtful Decorative Accents

Decorative elements in a Colonial interior are chosen with care, focusing on items that have both aesthetic appeal and historical significance. Vintage maps, brass candlesticks, framed botanical prints, and handcrafted ceramics add character and interest to the space. The key is to create a cur

🔥Three Elements That Will Make Your Interior Timeless and Always Fashionable🔥

Most trends come and go, and fashion rarely keeps anything in style for long. However, there are a few simple elements in interior design that will always remain relevant.

🪵🪨 Natural Materials
Most synthetic materials don’t stay in fashion for long and are quickly replaced, but natural materials are always in demand. Wood, stone, and metal will always be appropriate and beautiful.

🤍🤎 Neutral Color Palette
It may seem like a neutral palette is purely a modern trend alongside minimalism, but calm colors have been popular in many other eras, such as the Neoclassical period. A neutral palette will always look neat, fresh, and elegant.

🌟✨ Your Personal Style
It doesn’t matter whether you like interior trends or not—your own unique style will never be out of place or outdated in your home. Don’t be afraid to follow your heart because you are the one living in your home, and it should be as comfortable as possible, catering to both your physical and emotional needs.

These materials are not only beautiful and functional but also contribute to maintaining a healthy environment and are safe for human health.

1. Wood:

2. Stone:
Stone materials, such as granite, marble, and limestone, are used for flooring and wall cladding.
👍Pros: Stone is incredibly durable, heat-resistant, and gives any space a luxurious, timeless appearance. Each type of stone has unique characteristics, offering a broad range of textures and colors.

3. Clay Plaster:

👍Pros: These rugs are resilient, often durable, and have a natural appearance. Each type of fiber offers different qualities; for example, wool is soft and resilient, while jute and sisal provide a more textured and sturdy look.

✨About the Mid-Century Modern Style✨

The Mid-Century Modern style is defined by its simplicity, elegance, and creativity all at once. Originating in the mid-20th century, it set trends in interior design with its emphasis on clean, tidy forms and lines, using a palette of browns and beiges with vibrant accents that remains relevant today.

🤓Origins and Evolution:
Mid-Century Modern emerged in the 1940s and reached its peak in the 1950s and 1960s. This style was a response to the ornate and excessively decorative designs of earlier eras, focusing on simplicity and naturalness while incorporating bold, creative elements. Influenced by the Bauhaus movement and Scandinavian design principles, it embraced minimalism and a strong connection to nature.

Key Characteristics:
1️⃣ Clean Lines: A hallmark of mid-century design is its smooth, straight lines and geometric shapes. Furniture and architecture feature sleek forms that exude a sense of order and harmony.

2️⃣ Functional Beauty: Every piece is designed with a purpose. Mid-century modern combines beauty with functionality, creating spaces that are both visually appealing and practical.

3️⃣ Natural Materials: Wood, leather, and metal are primary materials. The use of organic materials fosters a warm, inviting atmosphere. Additionally, bright accents from various materials break up the simplicity, adding to the style’s uniqueness.

4️⃣ Bold and neutral Colors: While the main palette includes neutrals like beige, white, and gray, bold splashes and small accents of vibrant colors such as mustard yellow, turquoise, and olive green add lively contrast.

5️⃣ Open Spaces: Mid-century modern interiors are characterized by open, airy spaces that enhance the feeling of spaciousness and freedom. Large windows and open floor plans amplify this effect.

If you appreciate this style, you can order a design in Mid-Century Modern from GID Renovation. However, if you prefer other design directions, we can create a project tailored to your preferences.

🛠️Basic Safety Rules During Renovation
🛠️
Renovation can be a dangerous process as it involves working with various chemicals, hazardous tools, and other materials. Therefore, it is essential to pay close attention to safety. We are making this important post to inform or remind you of the basic safety rules during renovation.

1. Wear Protective Gear🦺
Gloves, helmets, goggles, respirators, and so on are necessary during renovation. Gloves protect against splinters, cuts, and chemical exposure; helmets protect from impacts; goggles shield your eyes from dust and debris; respirators protect you from chemical fumes. Don’t forget about other more specific gear, like a welding mask.

2. Strictly Follow Instructions for Tools and Materials📃
To avoid injuries, breakdowns, and other unpleasant incidents during renovation, use tools according to their instructions. Also, don't neglect the instructions for chemicals and other materials. Almost every material comes with instructions: glue, paint, components for binding solutions, etc. If you don't follow the usage rules, at best, you’ll get poor results, like peeling wallpaper. At worst, the material can become dangerous. For example, if you incorrectly prepare a solution, it can become toxic and harmful to your health.

3. Ventilate the Area, Purify the Air, and Conduct Wet Cleaning🧹
Once the renovation is complete, and everything is dry and set, start ventilating the room and doing wet cleaning immediately. It is advisable not to move into a freshly renovated space but to ventilate and clean it regularly for a few weeks. It is also highly recommended to place an air purifier in the room for a while and, if possible, take other thorough measures to cleanse the area of any remaining dirt and chemicals to ensure its complete safety and habitability.

👍Pros and Cons of a Kitchen-Living Room👎

Combining the kitchen and living room into a single, open space is a popular design choice with both advantages and disadvantages. Here's an overview of this layout:

👍Pros:

1️⃣Ease of Movement: It's easy to move from the cooking area to the dining table or sofa to eat, as well as to take dishes to the sink or dishwasher.

2️⃣Increased Space: Merging the kitchen and living room creates a sense of larger space, which is especially useful in smaller homes or apartments where maximizing square footage is essential.

3️⃣More Natural Light: With fewer walls blocking sunlight, an open kitchen-living room requires less artificial lighting and makes the space brighter and more inviting.

4️⃣Design Versatility: This layout offers greater flexibility in terms of furniture arrangement and decor, providing a cohesive and harmonious aesthetic throughout the space.

👎Cons:

1️⃣More Noise: The absence of barriers means that noise from kitchen appliances, such as the dishwasher or blender, can easily disrupt activities in the living area, such as watching TV or having a conversation.

2️⃣Food Odor Spread: Cooking aromas can permeate the entire open space, which might be undesirable, so effective ventilation is crucial to mitigate this issue.

3️⃣Visible Clutter: Any mess in the kitchen is immediately visible from the living room, requiring more constant kitchen cleaning to keep the room looking tidy.

4️⃣Lack of Privacy: The open layout reduces privacy since there are no clear boundaries between the kitchen and living room, which may be uncomfortable for some people.

While the kitchen-living room concept offers a modern and open atmosphere, it's crucial to weigh these benefits against the potential challenges. Thoughtful planning and design can help mitigate the downsides, ensuring that this layout meets both aesthetic and functional needs. 🏠✨

❌ Top Mistakes in Living Room Layouts ❌

Mistakes in layout can significantly worsen your living experience by causing constant inconvenience. In this post, we’ll highlight the most common mistakes in living room layouts so you can avoid them!

1. Improperly Positioned Screen 🖥
Before starting to design your living room, outline its main functions. If the room will primarily be used for family relaxation and socializing, or as a home theater, special attention should be paid to the placement of furniture and video equipment. Avoid mounting the screen too high or too low, and ensure that the furniture from which you’ll be viewing is neither too close nor too far from the screen. Each TV size has its own standards and guidelines for the positioning of sofas and chairs relative to the screen.

2. Poor Lighting 💡
The amount of light, its intensity, color, and the placement of lighting fixtures are all crucial. These factors affect the overall look of the living room, its functionality, and practicality. If you often read in the living room, you’ll need task lighting in the reading area. If you frequently watch TV on a large screen, consider adding sources of soft lighting that can remain on during viewing. Main lighting can interfere with seeing the screen properly, while complete darkness can strain your eyes and make it difficult to navigate the room.

3. Too Much Furniture 🪑
A common issue in living rooms, as well as other large spaces in the home, is having too much furniture. You might want to maximize the use of space by filling it with various items, adding functions like an office or a gym. There may be enough room for all the items, and the passageways might be clear, but the overall impression can suffer greatly. Avoid cluttering the living room and turning it into a multipurpose space for everything; maintain harmony in the interior!

4. Incorrect Furniture Height and Spacing 📏
A coffee table that’s too high and obstructs the passage between the sofa, and other similar mistakes are the result of poor planning and miscalculations. Before buying and arranging furniture, measure your room, the furniture dimensions, and the intended passageways. Also, con

🤔What to Do If Your Bedroom Lacks Space?🛏

Many people face the problem of limited space in their bedroom. It might seem impossible to solve, given how much room beds, wardrobes, dressers, and other items take up, but there is a solution! In this post, we'll give you tips on how to organize your bedroom and make the most of your space!

1️⃣ Utilize Walls More
Often, bedroom layouts have all the furniture on the floor, with items piled on bulky nightstands and dressers, leaving the walls almost unused. Install shelves to store items that were previously in large wardrobes or on dressers, and opt for wall-mounted or ceiling lights instead of lamps on bedside tables. This will free up space both on the floor and inside your wardrobes, dressers, and nightstands, allowing you to replace them with more compact options or remove them altogether.

2️⃣ Increase Built-In Storage
Choose a bed with drawers underneath, install a built-in wall cabinet or shelves, and select a vanity or desk with drawers if you have one in your bedroom. Maximize your storage space!

3️⃣ Move Unnecessary Items to Other Rooms
Do all the items you store in your bedroom need to be there? Perhaps some cosmetics and personal care products can be moved to the bathroom, and some clothing can be stored in a closet in another room. Remove items that you don't use in the bedroom or rarely use in general, and think about whether you need all the things you have.

4️⃣ Consider a Transformer Bed
This option isn't for everyone, but if you're willing to do anything to free up space in your bedroom, consider getting a fold-out bed and wardrobe.

5️⃣ Rearrange the Furniture
Maybe your bedroom isn't that small, and your furniture is already quite practical—you just need a better arrangement. Analyze your bedroom layout and try moving the furniture around — think of it like Tetris.
Remember, the most important thing is to use the space wisely, not the size of the room.

💡Lighting Plan💡

Every interior design project includes a lighting plan, and today we will explain in simple terms what it consists of!🔥

Lighting can be divided into three main categories:

1. General or Primary Lighting

This lighting compensates for the lack of natural light in windowless rooms and during the evening or night. Its main function is simply to ensure you can see and navigate the space—nothing more, nothing less. An example of primary lighting is a chandelier in the center of the room.

2. Task or Directed Lighting

This type of lighting is needed for working at a desk or seeing yourself perfectly in the mirror, which is crucial for applying makeup, for instance. Task lighting differs from primary lighting in that it doesn't illuminate the entire room but rather a specific area, and does so with maximum quality. Task lighting also renders colors more accurately than regular lighting, which is important for those who apply makeup or take photographs at home. Examples of task lighting include a desk lamp or a floor lamp next to a reading chair.

3. Decorative Lighting

This type of lighting is solely for creating a special atmosphere and decorating the space. It is not necessary, but it often plays a significant role in interior design. Examples of decorative lighting include string lights, colored lighting, and candles.

🇺🇸Happy Independence Day!🦅

Today we celebrate a holiday for all of America - Independence Day.

This holiday began on July 4, 1776, when 13 colonies in North America freed themselves from dependence on Great Britain and became sovereign states of America. Today's celebration is to remind us of the most important thing for all of us - our freedom. If the country in which a person lives is not free, then the person themselves will not be free either🕊

Let's enjoy our freedom, be proud of our strength, and rejoice in our lives. Happy Independence Day to you!🎆

🔥Interior Design Trends for 2024🔥

Today, we’ll discuss the main trends in renovation and interior design for 2024.

☁️Soft Minimalism
Minimalism has been a key trend in design and renovation for several years and will continue. Recently, "soft minimalism" and "warm minimalism" have become popular. Previously, sharp, strict, and sterile minimalism with angular forms and dull, often cold colors dominated. Now, rounded, soft shapes and warm, yet still minimalist, non-flashy colors like yellow, warm beige, and orange are gaining popularity.

✋Tactility
Minimal decor and a limited color palette are balanced by textures that are not only visually appealing but also pleasant to touch. Natural materials, in particular, are trending as they positively affect the psyche, creating a cozy and calm environment, which is essential in today’s world.

🌿Sustainability
The trend of caring for nature and preserving Earth's resources continues to grow.

♻️Alternative Materials
Experimentation with materials in interior design is more popular than in previous years. This trend aligns with the others described above, with designers increasingly using unconventional materials and combinations.

🤓Smart Home🏠

The world doesn't stand still, technology advances, and our daily lives become simpler and more comfortable with it. In this post, we'll talk about modern home technologies.

What is a smart home?
A smart home is a system of various modern technologies that perform most household tasks automatically or are controlled using a single device—remote control, phone, or task panel.

What modern technologies are included in a smart home system?

1. Lighting: Smart bulbs that respond to the time of day and can automatically adjust brightness and color, as well as turn on and off using sensors that react to light, sound, or movement.

2. Automatic curtains, blinds, doors, and windows: Modern technology has advanced to the point where it helps you save time and effort on simple actions like opening doors or drawing curtains.

3. Climate technologies: Smart ventilation, thermostats, humidity sensors, underfloor heating, and other devices that create the perfect environment in your home.

4. Smart security system: Surveillance cameras, motion sensors, and alarms. If you worry about safety, a smart home will make you feel at ease.

5. Smart appliances: A coffee machine that makes your favorite drink with just the press of a button, an oven that turns off once the dish is ready, a washing machine that washes clothes at the right temperature and dries them, and a robot vacuum cleaner. The list goes on; almost everyone has at least one of these devices at home—they have become a familiar part of our daily lives.

Modern technology saves us effort, time, and nerves, making our lives easier and more pleasant, but it can be costly. Only you can decide if it's worth it.

Would you like to live in such a home, or do you prefer more traditional methods? Or maybe you already live in one? Write in the comments and give us a like!❤️

📝How to create a renovation budget?💵

To properly budget for a renovation, you need to consider its components.

Let's break down the renovation expenses into parts:
1. Payment for all workers
2. Payment for materials
• Rough materials: plaster, primer, wires, etc.
• Finish materials: flooring, wallpaper, paint, baseboards, etc.
3. Furniture and other furnishings
• Essentials: doors, windows, plumbing, kitchen, etc.
• Others: upholstered furniture, cabinets and nightstands, decor, and more

Now that you know what expenses and quantities to expect, you only need to choose which company and which specific materials and services you will order.

How to choose a company to provide you with materials or handle your renovation?

When choosing a company, you should focus on:
1. Client and acquaintance reviews
2. Price range
3. Experience
4. Company project portfolio

How to choose materials?
When choosing materials, you should consider:
1. Individual properties of different materials: durability, strength, flexibility, color, etc.
2. Material quality
3. Price
4. Your personal tastes and needs

You will need to compare companies and materials, considering all these points, and then make a choice in favor of what suits you perfectly in all respects.

Once you have made your decision, you only need to add up all the prices, and then you will have your renovation budget!✅
