Childbirth Educators and Doulas are in a unique position of helping expectant and new families with all aspects of this transition in their family. In the past, lactation/breastfeeding were viewed as separate from pregnancy and birth. However, we now value the interconnection and continuum of them all.

In this 3 hour session, attendees will be educated on the cycle of reproduction and how lactation intertwines. We will be looking at biology, pathophysiology, and anatomy, but it will be fun! Lactation is not just breastfeeding; “Feed the Baby and Maintain the Lactation” is our golden rule. However, there are times when breastfeeding won’t work or families choose a different path. We need to know what to do and how to help in these situations.

Lecture, discussion, demonstration, and case studies will make this 3-hours fly by and you will be glad you attended.
