Join us for the opening of Jenn Hales’ upcoming exhibition, Maiden/Mother/Crone, on Friday, November 1, from 6-8 pm. Hales explores womanhood and the journey of becoming a mother, drawing inspiration from stories of Medusa and the trifold Maiden, Mother, and Crone. Through these symbols, she examines the power, vulnerability, and wisdom of the successive stages of life.

The work is also inspired by Claudia Dey’s essay “Mothers as Makers of Death,” in which she delves into the complex relationship between motherhood and mortality, examining how, with each birth, a mother also brings an inevitable death into the world.

Are We Gonna Kiss? Kimchi will be at Rebus Works on Friday, Oct 11th, from 10 am - 2 pm. We will be selling a limited batch of homemade vegan kimchi purchasable by donation that will go directly to local organizations and the funds of those directly impacted by Hurricane Helene. *PICK UP ONLY AT REBUS WORKS*

When the supply drives end, the people across 20+ counties will still be dealing with having lost their homes, their livelihoods, and—for some—their entire communities. This market will support the grassroots funds in hollers that are hard to find on Google Maps.

Holy Moly! Rockin’ Rolly! Guess who’s coming to our bitchin’ Hopscotch Day Party? TONK AND THE TROUSERS and what’s the icing on the cake? Opening First Friday is JENNIFER CLIFTON’S “Lovelies”.

Groovewagon will be serving slushies and Raleigh Tamales are slinging tamales! All the fun starts at 5:30pm!

Tonk creates original country music that is heavily influenced by the great masters of the late 60’s to mid ’70s such as Ray Price, Merle Haggard and Johnny Paycheck. The band has released two full length albums, “Let’s Keep It Dark” in 2013 and “Second Nature” in 2016.

The Trousers are a rock and roll powerhouse, where the trio of guitar, bass, and drums channel the energy of the music gods straight through their amps.

Jennifer Clifton grew up in Slidell, Louisiana, a half an hour outside of New Orleans. Her mixed media pieces and paintings have been accepted into both nationally and internationally juried shows. She has shown and sold her art at multiple galleries and stores in Raleigh and Durham. Her most recent art successes include her acceptance by a jury to become a working artist at Artspace in Raleigh, and earning two solo shows of her work scheduled in 2025.

Groovewagon was founded by married parents Reilly Dunn and Sasha Klimczak and debuted at Hopscotch in September 2022, the groovy brand is built on the MO of having an in-between option for those who don’t necessarily want to consume alc but don’t want to feel nothing either.

Raleigh Tamales isn’t just a place for great food, authentic tamales, and Mexican cuisine that connect her to her roots and culture; it’s a beacon of hope and support for single parents, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and a reminder that no dream is too big to pursue.

LAST WEEK TO VIEW ERIN IVES BAD LUCK

We are going into the last week of Erin Ives exhibit Bad Luck, that explores our society defined by intricate roles and societal norms, where women bear the weight of historical stereotypes. Using broken mirror pieces and vintage mugshots of women, the viewer is engaging in a reflective experience. Through 3D layers and image transparencies, it explores the tension between societal expectations and hidden truths. It prompts us to question our connection to the past and consider how easily these stories could be our own.This is worth a view in person and see the reflections of yourself in the pieces.

Ready to hear some beautiful noise? Stop by this Thursday, from 6-8pm and enjoy the sounds of Soundscape artist Jude Casseday of IBoD (https://www.instagram.com/dejacusse?igsh=ZHU1c210am85NWdk) and Adam W Carroll (https://www.instagram.com/adamwcarroll?igsh=MTVycnR1Z3VvdnZvOQ==) from Greensboro. This is also our one year anniversary of hosting Triangle Synth Party and we are looking forward to many more years to come. If you are new to this scene check out their instagram page. Doug Llewellyn is the leader of Triangle Synth Party (https://www.instagram.com/triangle_synth_party?igsh=MWc0ZWhvbnpmNmMzNQ==) and tirelessly provides our community with free music, although the tip jar is also open for the artist.

ERIN IVES: BAD LUCK
OPENING FRIDAY, AUGUST 2 FROM 6-8pm

In our intricate and interconnected society, the expectations placed upon us greatly influence the roles we take on and the aspects of ourselves that we present to the world. For women, these societal demands are further complicated by historical stereotypes and prejudices. This particular body of artwork incorporates shattered fragments of mirrors alongside vintage mugshots of women. The broken mirrors distort the images, inviting viewers to see themselves reflected within the work. Through a blend of three-dimensional elements and transparent images, the artwork captures the contrast between what is visible and what remains hidden due to societal norms. It prompts us to question how different we truly are from these individuals and how easily their stories could mirror our own.
