Starting out as a dairy, chicken and vegetable farm, back then, the farm has gone through many changes over the decades.
Our farm has been owned by the Knothe Family in Randolph, New Jersey since 1917, when Edward and Francis "F***y" Knothe purchased the property (yes, almost 100 years ago!). It is quite different from the days when (during the Great Depression) Ed and "F***y" sold vegetables from a wagon in the Dover area to support the farm. Their son, Peter, and his wife Alice have lived on the farm since their
marriage in 1946. Peter and Alice raised their 4 children here. As time passed throughout the decades, our focus has shifted to seasonal flowers and Christmas trees, while selling Jersey Fresh produce like sweet corn and tomatoes, is still a huge part of the farming operation. We have a large variety of beautiful hanging baskets and planters, bedding and vegetable plants and perennials in our greenhouses in the spring and summer. Fresh baked pies, jams and jellies, and local honey are some of the items available in our farm stand. In addition to our own produce, we also have a variety of other locally grown fruits and vegetables during the summer months. During the Christmas season we have acres of choose and cut trees, as well as fresh cut trees, poinsettias, wreaths, and grave covers and many other holiday items. For the convenience of Randolph residents, we opened a propane cylinder filling station this year, which is open during our business hours. While the farm has gone through many changes, one thing that will never change is the Knothe spirit that drives the business. All of our products from decorated holiday wreaths to hand-designed flower planters are made with love and care. If you stop by Knothe's, you can feel the farm's vibrant history from family members laughing and working together, a visit from Grandma Alice, or simply from the fresh taste of our sweet corn.
