Inflammation is always the first thing that needs treated when dealing with acne!

Instead of slapping on a drying acne treatment right away, try healing & nourishing your skin barrier instead first, instead of stripping it. It’s important to address your skin barrier health before treating any type of skin concern!

Well, you are essentially doing 80% of your correction at home using your recommended skincare products. The other 20% is made up from personalized monthly treatments from your esthetician!

What you apply on your skin morning & night is a huge contributor to your skins condition. Double Cleansing 🧼

Double cleansing means cleansing your skin twice. It is an effective way to remove debris, build up & pollution accumulated through the day. Typically double cleansing consists of using an oil based cleanser, followed by a water based cleanser.

An oil based cleanser will effectively remove make up & sunscreen. It can also be helpful in patients with oily skin as a first step to remove excess oil from the skin because oil attracts oil. Oil based cleansers may not be suitable for acne prone skin types & can be replaced with a gentle water based cleanser.

A water based cleanser will help the rest of your products pe*****te the skin properly. This is a good place to use a treatment cleanser if you are looking to target specific concern.

Let’s talk Exfoliation 🔐

Exfoliating is crucial to maintaining skin health. Our skin naturally exfoliates every 30 days or so, as we age this process slows.

Exfoliating 2-3 times weekly will improve concerns of pigmentation, texture & breakouts. Over time, it can also increase the production of collagen, which also decreases as you get older. Collagen is the protein naturally found in the skin that keeps it looking firm & youthful.

Exfoliation should be part of everyone’s skincare routine, your skin type is a good place to start assessing what type of exfoliant would be suitable for your skin.
