🚦 Labor Day weekend safety reminder 🚦

Yesterday, Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, alongside the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, the PA State Police and other safety partners, hosted an event to highlight the importance of celebrating responsibly. This was part of the National Crackdown Impaired Driving Campaign, running through Monday, Sept. 2.

The event featured a demonstration by PSP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Program Coordinator Corporal Nathan Zulick, who showcased a drug-detection field sobriety test. Additionally, the Pennsylvania DUI Association’s Moving DUI Victims’ Memorial was on display, and attendees had the chance to see a Penn State Health Life Lion ambulance. Local municipal police, who are actively involved in the enforcement campaign, were also in attendance.

As the long weekend begins, let’s keep safety at the forefront of our plans:

✅ Plan Ahead: If you’re drinking, choose a designated driver or use a ride-share service.

✅ Stay Informed: Impaired driving remains a serious concern, with many crashes involving alcohol or drugs last year.

Let’s work together to make this Labor Day weekend enjoyable and safe for everyone.
