The rain hasn’t been too bad this morning but the road is wet. Here is Bryan McCrea having to put in a bit of opposite steering as the back end steps out exiting turn 2.

The calm before the storm. Racing begins around 9am. 🏎️

For everyone looking at the weather and wondering YES, as long as it isn’t raining too hard we do run in the rain. (That doesn’t mean every driver/car chooses to run)

Close to 100 racers from 17 states as far away as Texas will be coming to Reading, PA for the annual Duryea Hillclimb, August 17-18.

The annual Duryea Hillclimb, first run in 1951, is part of the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association (PHA) Championship Series. It's sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America(SCCA) and hosted by the local chapter, Blue Mountain Region SCCA.

Last year's overall winner and setter of a new course record, Ron Moreck of Kingston, PA will be returning to defend his title. He'll be up against stiff competition from several previous winners looking to reclaim "King of the Hill" status as well as some very fast drivers from southern states making their first appearance at Duryea.

The Start Line of the 2.2-mile course is at the bottom of Duryea Drive at the intersection with 13th Street Extension, and the Finish Line is on Skyline Dive at the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower.

Competition begins Saturday about 9:15am and continues until approximately 4:30pm. On Sunday the event gets underway about 9am and ends around 4pm.

Admission is by voluntary donation and benefits Pagoda-Skyline, Inc. A shuttle bus will be in service both days taking riders to the Fire Tower and various spectating areas. Ridership is by voluntary donation and benefits the Third and Spruce Reading Rec Center.

There are donations bin and if you can afford a small donation to the Pagoda-Skyline, Inc. it is appreciated. Pagoda-Skyline, Inc. is a non-profit, citizen volunteer organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Pagoda, the Fire Tower and the Skyline Drive area.
