"On Westward" is a series of large scaled paintings that depicts images of figures within an apocalyptic landscape. At first glance, these paintings may have a dystopian overcast but the deeper you look a story begins to unravel.  The series was influenced by John Steinbeck and the days of the Dustbowl.  The idea of struggle meeting perseverance and adaptation is the main theme of the series. The power of family and finding joy even in the most desperate of times.

Crazy Story ‼️ Little did we know when we hung up “Miss Emily” on April 23rd (which is adorned with a photo of famous Calypso singer Harry Belafonte) for our opening show, we would two days later hear of his passing. A bittersweet reminder of the power of art and it’s ability to immortalize icons.

Dear DETOUR Fam,

First and foremost, we want to thank all of our clients, from all over the world, for your phenomenal support throughout the years.

We have been holding onto some exciting news for the past few weeks, and the time has finally come to share it with all of you!

New Jersey has always been Detour's home, however, we have so many client’s in the NYC area that we knew we needed to be in close proximity to them.

We are opening up a brand new 3,000 sq. ft. Detour space on the ground floor in the heart of the world-famous New York City, Chelsea Art District.

This new adventure will allow us to spotlight and showcase the fantastic Detour artists with a broader audience, and a whole new space!

Detour Gallery will now be located at 545 West 23rd street between 10th and 11th avenue. With very easy access to the gorgeous Highline park and West Side Highway.

Stay tuned for our first show, where we will feature some new works in an eclectic show entitled, Worth the Detour.

We will keep you updated on all things Detour, and advise when we will have our grand opening.

We can't wait to see you soon!

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or to simply say hello!

We have many exciting announcements coming… so stay tuned!

As an artist, LaBua seeks the directness of his subjects to evoke emotion within his audience. His paintings act as a device to ask questions that delve deep into the caverns of the human psyche.
