Sharing something I did not know:

ONLINE BILL PAY THROUGH YOUR BANK HAS HUGE PROBLEMS:

I won’t take you through the horrendous experience that brought this lesson home but I will share the final knowledge in hopes of saving someone else this stress:

1. The bill pay IS NOT with your bank. It is through a “THIRD PARTY” service, many of whom are full of computer glitches and representatives trained to point fingers at the bank. The bank will then say it’s the third party service, like FISERV, that has the problem. You, as the customer, will be stuck in the middle.

2. Getting a bill pay error fixed, that they created, takes HOURS of phone calls, trips to the local bank branch and follow-up letters. Much of this effort needs to be repeated over and over again.

3. EVERY BANK TELLER AND PROFESSIONAL I HAVE TALKED TO tells me they do not use online “bank” bill pay because they do not trust the third party services.
(WOULDN’T THIS HAVE BEEN GOOD TO KNOW!!!)

I am canceling all online bill pay as I continue to try to get the bank and FISERV to fix THEIR ERRORS.

BE WARNED!!!

TO MY MILITARY FAMILY, FRIENDS and ANY CLIENTS THAT SEE THIS…

I am getting reports of full on PTSD reactions. This is understandable. Breathe… say something here… call helpline… get ahold of your VA therapist. I am trying to be supportive of my military clients and family. As one former military told me, “I haven’t been this triggered since facing incoming in Iraq.”

I have never learned all the words to this amazing National Hymne. This 4th of July is a good time to be reminded to GOD BLESS AMERICA!

AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL
By Katharine Lee Bates (1893)

O beautiful for spacious skies/For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties/Above the fruited plain!
America! America!/God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood/From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet/Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat/Across the wilderness!
America! America!/God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control/Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved/In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved/And mercy more than life!
America! America!/May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness/And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream/That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam/Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!/God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood/From sea to shining sea!

I finished my pine needle art piece I call “Alaska.” It is around a beautiful piece I bought in Alaska. The blue and white represent the water and ice, the green is the beautiful Alaskan foliage and the colorful flash of color represents the Aurora Borealis. I hung it on the wall over our Alaskan pictures. I really like the negative space.

She helped form the Redding Regional Chapter of CAMFT, and served as the President of the Chapter four times including holding numerous positions on the Chapter’s Board. KUDOS TO MOONSTONE BISTRO FOR SAYING THIS SO CLEARLY!!! (Moonstone is an amazing restaurant in Redding, CA)

Moonstone Bistro
on Tuesday
Dear Redding...
How we love you so!
We do!! It's true!!
You've been good to us, but I have some news.
I'm picking a fight with California.
She's been getting super pushy lately and I need a partial break-up.
Seriously....we need some time apart.
California is..well....needy.
And demanding!
I know..I know.
Redding IS California, I wouldn't have it any other way, but it's like California is Reddings older sister, who is a drama magnet, who constantly spends everyone else's money on beer and ci******es, then bi***es about being broke.
Redding, on the other hand, just wants to go to work, and not be bothered too much.
So I'll get right to it.
It's time to break up.
I'll start.....
California, your sweet and all, but this whole $20 per hour for fast food workers?
And 5 paid days off?
Plus a 401(k)?
And health insurance?
For someone with no work experience and no high school diploma needed?
Let's talk about this...
That's $41,600 per year, 5 paid days off, 401(k) and health insurance that now I have to pay!
Because I won't be able to hire anyone unless I meet this new fast food standard.
And that's a serious problem, because I'm just...well...me.
It's just Tanya and I over here.
And that is a standard that we can't meet.
I'm sorry.
We can't.
Your asking too much of us.
I know a lot of people think this money is magic, and that workers deserve as much as they can get....but I'm a worker.
Tanya and I both work.
Nobody is paying us.
We have to make our own money.
Us, and every other small business owner in this state. We're not Google....or Apple, or Uber.
We're just a family who paid you for a fictitious business statement, then a business license, then a corporation entity, then an Employer Indentification Number, then yearly inspection fees and yearly renewal fees, and finally...taxes.
Corporate tax, then State tax, then Federal tax.
Ouch.
Before anyone is even allowed to work for themselves, they need to come up with about $15,000
To pay for PERMISSION TO HAVE A JOB!
It's true!!
Don't believe me?
Try it!
I dare you!!
Then, once you do that....
Try to hire someone!
Because hiring someone...ANYONE... now costs
$41,600. 5 paid days off. Health Insurance and a 401(k).
But wait!!
You also need to pay
Workman's Comp!
And have liability insurance!
And....Employer Contribution taxes!
Yes.
Required by law.
By the time your done hiring a single, non experienced, no work history minimum wage employee, your out of pocket about $54,000.
Yikes!!!
Which is why we have to have a little break up.
I can't afford all that, so I need to reduce how much were spending on you!
As of January 1st, 2024, I'm going to buckle the belt.
No more lunch service.
That's right.
Moonstone Bistro will no longer offer lunch service.
We just can't swing it.
It's never been a super busy shift, but our dinner rush has always been able to subsidize it.
Not anymore.
There are only two ways to have money.
Make it...or save it.
We need to do both.
Jan 1st, 2024, Moonstone will now only be open for dinner, starting at 4 pm.
On Sunday, we will still have brunch!
That shift does well.
Nice and busy, runs smooth, happy people...so brunch stays!
Our new hours:
Weds through Saturday, 4 pm to 9 pm, dinner service.
Sunday:
Brunch from 10 am to 2 pm. Dinner from 4 pm to 9pm.
That's just the way it has to be.
We just can't afford California's reckless spending habits, the constant 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!'
Because we're the ones who have to give.
And sometimes, it's just not worth it.
So: Redding...I'm cutting lunch out!
Your Big Sister, California, has gotten in the way of our 'good thing.'
Let's do dinner instead!
We can meet for cocktails, tell stories, enjoy ourselves and watch the sun go down.
As it should be!
Cheers!

If anyone has had the sterilization device ESSURE implanted, or had metal joint replacement with cobalt implants, or had vaginal mesh for pelvic surgery, you need to watch the Netflix documentary THE BLEEDING EDGE. How the USA has allowed the FDA to approve new medical devices is completely manufacturer supportive and NOT PATIENT ADVOCACY.

We also need to be aware of the issues with robotic surgeries. It is innovative and has potential, but training of doctors to perform this futuristic surgery is extremely limited. We need to stay informed.

MANY DO NOT TRULY UNDERSTAND WHAT IS MEANT BY AMERICANS THANKING VETERANS FOR KEEPING OUR COUNTRY FREE… please allow me to offer a perspective…

The great USA is free, and will remain free because we have a well trained, well equipped military with the best missile defense system in the world. Our military can be deployed at a moments notice here at home or anywhere in the world.

In addition to our superb military, we have millions of citizens already armed, who have expertise with weapons that are in their possession right now. They would also mobilize within minutes if some adversary were stupid enough to try to invade our country. Many of these people were prior military, as well. It is not an accident, nor thoughtless, that the USA has THE 2ND AMENDMENT. It is to keep our country FREE from enemies both FOREIGN and DOMESTIC.

So, when we thank our veterans for keeping our country FREE, say it with meaning and understanding. These trying times in the world need to remind us WHY WE ARE FREE AND HOW WE ARE GOING TO STAY THAT WAY!!!!

Note: This blood red sunset rose in my backyard on this Veterans’ Day… how appropriate!!

FENTANYL WARNING FOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA:

Many of my clients utilize ma*****na for mental health reasons. A person I know, who uses ma*****na for anxiety and sleep, has been in the hospital twice in the past month. Yesterday they told this person that the reason she passed out and had to be brought to the ER was a fentanyl overdose. The ER told her that pot is being laced with FENTANYL in Northern California. They are seeing it a lot.

Note that this woman is a normal, hardworking 55+ person. She is NOT a druggie or recreational drug user. She has been using pot for medicinal purposes and bought it from a reliable source. She told me she bought it from a friend. She wasn’t sure where her friend bought it from.

BUY ONLY FROM LICENSED DISPENSERIES. I AM TOLD THEY TEST THEIR PRODUCT FOR SAFETY.

BEWARE!!! FENTANYL IS DEADLY!!!

THE SOUND OF FREEDOM

An incredible movie with a message we all need to hear. It is so well done. It was NEVER over the top with unnecessary horror or theatrics. It was powerful and emotional but within tolerance of someone who is overly sensitive, like me.

GOD’s CHILDREN DO NOT NEED TO BE FOR SALE!!

Please share this post. Go see the movie. Get everyone to go see the movie in the theater.

Welcome to Heal Your Heart Therapy! My mom, Patricia L. Bay, and I are excited to announce we are now CE credentialed through CEPA with CAMFT.

In other words, we are now able to sign off CE (continuing education) credits for other professionals in our field with our trainings through our Heal Your Heart Therapy training/workshop group! We have to receive so many CEs every year to maintain our license.

I'm so excited! The application process and credentialing was a small hurdle and a waiting game, but it's over!

A LIST OF THINGS THAT HELP

When someone offers to help a family that is caregiving a loved one, they usually have no idea how to respond. They need so much but are embarrassed or ashamed to request the help or take someone up on a kind offer. As someone who did caregiving for eight years for a husband with a brain disease, I put together this list. I am suggesting that when someone offers to help, this list be forwarded to them. ❤️❤️❤️

- [ ] When you make your famous dish… soup, spaghetti sauce, pot roast, lasagna, etc etc… consider making some extra. Freeze the food flat in ziplock Freezer bags or containers they don’t need to wash and return. Write the date, number of servings, and contents with permanent marker on the bag or container. Deliver to the family frozen. Place in their freezer. Give a hug and leave.

- [ ] Offer to take the loved one for a walk, to the movies, to play cards, or to simply sit with the person so the caregiver (and kids) might go out for a bit.

- [ ] Mow their lawn.

- [ ] Sweep the front porch.

- [ ] Plant flowers in the yard or drop off a beautiful pot of flowers.

- [ ] Show up the night before trash day and set out the trash cans. Find out how to do it correctly.

- [ ] Show up with a bunch of friends and help get the house in order. Catch up the laundry. Wash floors. Clean bathrooms. Many caregivers cannot afford help and get very embarrassed as things begin to slide.

- [ ] Share a good book or CD

- [ ] A gift certificate to a restaurant that includes delivery and tip. (You can also call and say I am having dinner delivered to you this week. What night do you want it. Go to this link… restaurant link… and tell me what entrees you want. )

- [ ] Pick up the laundry… sheets, towels, etc. - wash, fold, return promptly

- [ ] Offer to run errands. For example do a Target pick-up. They can order and pay online but help picking it up is often needed. Prescriptions, groceries, etc can be ordered online, paid for and someone can pick up (they run it out to your car) you just need the pick/up code).

- [ ] Bake cookies, or a pie or some fresh fruit and deliver. Give a hug and leave.

- [ ] Clean their car. Even more fun… show up with several friends and make short order of detailing their car (bring your own stuff) or sprucing up the front yard.

I remember when Rich was extremely ill with Behavioral Variant Frontotemporal Degeneration (bvFTD), a dear friend, Marilyn Jones Norberg, brought a flat of fresh fruit and veggies to our house almost every Tuesday. She often made a pie or special treat. (I can still see Rich’s smile when he knew Marilyn made him a pie.) She’d leave it at the front door and then call me and say, check your front door. The loving kindness she showed was exquisite and will forever be etched in my heart. ❤️❤️❤️
