Here’s your reminder that the deadline to enter the Tehama District Fair is almost here! Don’t delay! FFA exhibitors will need to turn their entries into their Ag advisor. Horse show entries, you have until the 12th. Good luck!

I have come across so many back issues like this example every week since the slow feeder hay bags became a fad. 😓

As we enter Horse Show Season

1. Horses don’t get broke at home. Be brave and enter!
2. EVERY disappointment at the show is a learning opportunity..... Be humble, be open to change.
3. Everyone gets nervous. Everyone has bad days. Everyone makes mistakes. Literally: EVERYONE!
4. Don’t watch others in the warmup ring and start changing what you have been doing - if you see something cool or you want to step up your game that’s homework for after the show!
5. When we run out of knowledge, we often punish our horses. Seek help instead.
6. Be a competitor! But be a horseman first. There is always someone watching who sees you as a role model.
7. Supporting your fellow competitors and engaging with people will enrich your show life.
8. Know the rules of competition! Make sure your attire and tack is legal. Read the rule book, ask questions and be well prepared.
9. Have FUN, don’t sweat the small stuff!

⭐2024 Featured Clinician⭐

While Jim Masterson was grooming horses on the hunter-jumper circuit, he learned that if you trust and follow what the horse is telling you as you work on it, the horse’s body will participate in the process of releasing tension. The result is not only an improvement in the horse's performance but also in the trust that develops between the horse and human.

Jim has worked on top equine competitors all over the world and across many disciplines. In 2006, he was invited to accompany the U.S. Endurance Team to the FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, and continued to accompany the team in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Jim now teaches his unique method of equine bodywork to horse owners and therapists around the world, in which the horse participates in the process by showing the practitioner where tension has accumulated and when it has been released. The result is an effective method that anyone can learn to improve performance and open new levels of communication and trust with the horse. Join us this year at the Western States Horse Expo and learn directly from Jim on June 7-9, 2024 at the Murieta Equestrian Center.
