Schrader valves are what hold refrigerant inside your A/C system. Over time, they do begin to leak, causing refrigerant to escape. Be sure to get your entire A/C system checked out before the hot summer months arrive!

Nevada is a buyer beware state! When purchasing a European vehicle in the Reno/Sparks area, we highly recommend getting your vehicle inspected before purchasing, SAS does free buyers inspections on European cars so you know what you are getting into before you buy. Even on the lines of cars we do not work on, we still recommend getting it looked at by a trusted shop.

Not every day one of these comes in.

2007 Ferrari F430.
4.3 litre N/A V8 with 483 hp
This particular model features the steel brakes and F1 transmission.
Always fun seeing stuff like this.

When purchasing a vehicle, we always recommend getting the vehicle inspected.

Pre purchase inspections are completely free of charge for all European vehicles bought and sold in our local area!
We will look for any signs of accident damage such as looking for misaligned bumpers, siliconed wiring, or even holes in an intercooler hose from accident damage.

We do get quite a few questions about these BMW oil pans so I would like to explain: in order to fit a functional AWD system in a vehicle with a very tall engine without sacrificing oil capacity in the pan. BMW (and others) will simply have a passage in the oil pan for the axles to run through. This means two things for these cars.
1: the subframe, control arms, axles, and engine mounts must be disconnected and dropped to access the oil pan
2: the vehicle needs to be realigned in order to correct the suspension and subframe movement.
This is why oil pans two days to complete.

What an interesting experience. Our master tech on top of a table trying to pull a collar sleeve off a transmission. This usually is a job for our hydraulic press but sometimes simple muscle is all you need.

The Audi RS7 is a stunning car to say the least. But the less glamorous side is having to remove the tank for the air suspension just to replace a battery. The 4.0 litre v8 also leaves a lot to be desired as far as room to get your hand in the engine bay. Still a mighty machine.

We do love our projects here but some are just a bit silly. This is a starter motor job on a V8 VW Toureg. The exhaust manifold blocks the starter which means an engine out job. While not common, they do fail. And so, we get the 14 hour, engine out, starter job.

It is not every day we get to see a creation quite like this. This is a 4.4 litre V8 from an XC90 in a V70R. This also features the “spaceball” manual transmission. According to the gentleman that brought it in, it’s the only one of its kind. Truly an amazing creation.

Timing is the single most important component in an engine. If the engine goes out of time, or if a component in the engine fails, the engine will fail. The best way to ensure your vehicle continues to run smoothly is to change your oil every 5000 miles and, when the time comes, replace your timing chains.

“14 hours for an oil pan?”
Yes, indeed. On AWD BMW vehicles (what BMW calls xdrive) they have a rather unique setup. To ensure a lower center of gravity, BMW keeps the engine very low in their bays but that means they need to run their axle shafts THROUGH the oil pan. Couple that with with needing to drop the subframe and steering rack to remove the oil pan, this can quickly add up to being a 14+ hour procedure.

Batteries:
Most European cars have batteries that can take over an hour to replace. Heat is their enemy so most manufacturers prefer to store them under the cowl, in the trunk, or (in specific cases) under the driver seat. These also require programming that, if not correctly implemented, will cause electrical faults.

Fuel economy is very important, especially with the high price of fuel. Make sure you aren’t carrying extra weight in the cargo area or trunk of your car, this will allow you to get the most out of each gallon of fuel. Added bonus, when you bring your car in for service, it makes it easier to access the spare tire and make sure it’s at the proper pressure.

With the price of fuel on the rise we are seeing more cars come in with little or no fuel in the tank. It’s important that you don’t drive with low fuel levels, damage to your car’s fuel system can occur. We also see drivability issues and check engine lights.
