Job Title: Irrigation Technician
Classification: Seasonal - Full Time, Hourly
Reno Green Landscaping Inc. is seeking a Landscaping Maintenance Laborer to work in our maintenance department. We are looking for a strong candidate that is passionate about working for a fast-paced, award winning, and growing company that is privately owned & operated. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working and knowledgeable individual who thrives in an ever-changing environment. If you are looking for a great work environment and a company that values you, we would like to hear from you. Pay will start at $20 and can go up depending on experience.

Overall Purpose:
The Irrigation Technician will be responsible for proper technics for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding a business or building by using hands, power tools, or equipment. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks which may include digging. This position will also work in crews of 2 or more people, so collaboration and good communication is vital. Leadership skills is needed to monitor and evaluate projects performed by an apprentice.

Duties:
• Clean facilities or sites.
• Dispose of trash or waste materials and recycle them into their assigned areas.
• Plant greenery to improve landscape appearance.
• Remove snow.
• Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
• Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
• Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers.
• Trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds.
• Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
• Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage.
• Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
• Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
• Water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
• Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws.
• Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
• Use a backpack sprayer to apply pesticides.
• Makes sure to teach the crew how to properly use all tools and machines properly and safely

Many friends and colleagues have asked about a local service for Mark and Janene Thompson. Please see the attachment for the information put together by our industry friends and partners. If you have any questions regarding this service, please contact the email noted on the flyer.

It is with the greatness sadness we announce the death of our friend and colleague, Mark Thompson. Mark and his wife, Janene, were involved in a fatal car accident on December 28, 2021. This loss has not only devastated his work family at Reno Green Landscaping, but the entire northern Nevada landscaping industry.

Mark's passion for the landscape industry was felt by everyone he met. He loved nothing more than sharing his vast irrigation knowledge. Mark won many industry awards but the award for his education service was one of his favorites. Mark won the NLA Education/Research Award in 2020. Mark was very involved with our industry groups and sat on many boards. He was selfless of his time and loved nothing more than attending events and socializing with his clients.

Mark's quick wit, sense of humor and ability to quote any line from any movie, kept our office laughing every day. Mark was the guy you could ask to look at any problem, meet with any client or help out with any project. Mark joined Reno Green on January 5, 2015. He was dependable and extremely loyal. His job duties included customer service, irrigation specialist and maintenance contract sales. He was so much more than his job description to us at Reno Green. He was loved and respected by everyone.

Our hearts go out to Mark and Janene's family and friends.
