π Stay Safe in the Heat! π
Hey Reno Tennis Center Players,
With the extreme heat this week, we want to make sure everyone stays safe and hydrated. Here are a few tips:
π§ Stay Hydrated: We have a water refill station at the front of the center and drinking fountains at the midpoint. Remember to drink plenty of water.
π¦ Cool Down: Use the water pump to wet your heads or hats if needed.
π³ Seek Shade: We're working with the City to provide more shade at the center and will update you once a long-term solution is approved.

π Exciting News for Reno Pickleball Enthusiasts! π
We are incredibly grateful to our friends at USTA Nevada and the Children's Foundation for including Reno in the USTA Nevada Pickleball League! π
The league format will follow the same structure as the Arizona Pickleball Players League (APPL). We are thrilled to announce that we are aiming for our first league to start on August 1st! π
Each match will consist of 6 players from each team, so make sure to have a roster of at least 10 players to accommodate rotations and substitutes. After all of our Reno teams compete in their respective divisions, we will either have a NV State Championship to determine which teams go to nationals or send top teams from both Las Vegas and Reno directly to nationals. ππ
Here's what we need to get started:
Team Locations: Let us know where your team would like to play.
Team Captains/Location Managers: We need dedicated individuals to help add players to the league and record scores.
If you're interested in hosting teams out of the Reno Tennis Center as a captain or location manager, please let us know! π
Let's come together and make this an incredible experience for our community! πΎπͺ

Which pickleball grip should I use? Which grip is best for the forehand and all the other strokes? You got questions and I got the answers in this best pickleball grips guide.
The pickleball grip is how you hold the paddle in your hand and impacts every shot you hit. It is important to know the different grips and the strengths and weaknesses of each so you can determine which grip is best suited for your game. The grip is often not given much thought, which is a mistake.
The pickleball grip you select influences how the paddle will tend to swing through the ball, along with the angle of the paddle face and the optimal contact point. Some grips have a natural tendency to swing more through the ball producing a faster and flatter hit ball. Other grips naturally swing low to high generating a ball hit with more spin. It is important to understand these factors when selecting the grip that will compliment your style of play the best.
Your pickleball grip can greatly influence your effectiveness in regard to your style of play and before deciding on a grip you should think about the big picture of your game. How do you want to play the game? If you have a definitive answer, great! If not thatβs okay. It is important to consider these questions because your response will help guide you when selecting your grips.
Remember, no pickleball grip is perfect and there is wiggle room when making a selection. Each grip has its strengths and weaknesses. However, some grips are better suited for particular styles of play. The important thing to consider is which grip will compliment your game the best.
Do you feel like you're not seeing the ball or returning shots as well as other players?
Knowing what to look for has helped me track the ball better and provided me with slightly more time to improve my spatial awareness and make solid contact.
