On Tuesday, Reno Fire Department (RFD) successfully rescued a stranded dog from the Truckee River. However, the dog managed to escape. Later that day, Animal Control Officer (ACO) Lafinier responded to a call about a stray dog, which turned out to be the same dog that escaped. The dog was taken to the Washoe County Regional Animal Services shelter, where he was found to be without a microchip. Fortunately, we were still able to locate his owner.
Before heading home on Tuesday evening, the dog, named Hendrix, received a microchip at no cost. Washoe County Regional Animal Services offers free microchips to Washoe County residents during office hours, no appointment needed. This service helps ensure that pets can be easily reunited with their families if they ever get lost. Thank you, RFD and ACO Lafinier, for all your hard work and dedication to our community.

While we wait for the tall cat/dog enclosure to be done, I want to say ‘thanks’ to the cat mom who sent this pic of the babies enjoying the sun in the mobile catio. This is a good choice if you don’t want a structure attached to your house, or if you live in an apartment complex. You can move it around! These are some happy cats! 🐱🐱🐱🐱❤️🌞✨

Remember the wooden frames I posted some weeks ago? Well, they turned into two beautiful catios for different families! Each catio is different because it’s built per the owner’s instructions. Note the removable access tunnel for the white one!

Building a catio (cat enclosure) takes time. Once the client and Joe have agreed on the design, size, color, and other details, he makes the frames and glues the wood. Then there is sanding, base and painting. Finally the wire is installed. The catio is put together on location, where the door, shelves and roof are added. 😀🐱✨ We will show you when these catios are done!

There are different types of cat enclosures. This catio was built on a 12' x 10' deck that was seldom used. It got converted into a playground for cats to enjoy the outdoors! The old tree provides extra shade and entertainment when some birds get there!

This week’s catio in North West Reno portraits a clear roof and it’s perfectly located facing a beautiful garden! Panda has already made herself at home, and soon her two brothers will join her! 🥰🐱🐱🐱. The trees provide shade and add beauty to this peaceful cat space! ✨

Location is everything! A new catio for ’Skinny’, the barn cat that was injured and is recovering pretty well! His brothers and sisters are curious about it! Where would you build your catio?

The first version of a mobile catio was a fun space for our dear cat Stella, who sadly left us yesterday 😥🐱🌈💫. She loved being outside in the patio! I would move her to the sunny spots, put some food and water for her, and she would observe me working in the garden. Consider something like this for a balcony or just to have at hand so your cat/s can be safe and happy with you outdoors. Size and color can be customized.
