YESCO was in a recent spotlight from Defender Safety Helmets after adopting their new type II helmets:
“YESCO , a 104-year-old company founded in 1920 by Thomas Young, continues to uphold its legacy of innovation and safety by adopting the Defender Safety H2 Type 2 Safety Helmet.
Isaac Gallegos, Safety Director at YESCO, has been instrumental in recommending the adoption of the new helmets: ‘We've received positive feedback from our employees about the helmets,’ said Gallegos. ‘They not only find them more comfortable but also feel that they significantly enhance overall compliance and safety.’
The Defender Safety H2 Type 2 Safety Helmet offers superior protection by guarding against both top and side impacts. This is a major step up from traditional Type 1 helmets, which only provide top impact protection. With the addition of chin straps, the H2 helmets also ensure the helmets stay securely in place during high-risk activities".
We’re proud to lead the industry in safety and innovation and will continue to prioritize the well-being of our employees and pave the way for future advancements.

YESCO announces its distinguished creative director Mark Oatis recently participated in a significant project for the American Sign Museum's Main Street exhibit expansion. Together with his wife and creative partner, Rose, Oatis served on a team of artists tasked with making character signage to support the museum's collection.
Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, the museum project holds special significance for Oatis, as it includes a portrait he hand painted in tribute to Bill Riedel, a beloved member of the Letterheads, which is a sign painting organization comprising thousands of members passionate about the craft.
The tribute also stands as a testament to Oatis’ deep respect for the sign-making community and his commitment to preserving its rich heritage. Members of the public will soon be able to view the team’s work when it’s unveiled at the museum this July.
Oatis, whose career in sign creation began in 1972, has been a pivotal figure in the field, known for his compelling and recognizable designs. Oatis has worked with numerous sign companies, including YESCO’s design team for more than 17 years, and alongside skilled artists and fabricators on projects both in the United States and internationally. His portfolio boasts notable projects for Tokyo DisneySea and Wynn Resort and Casino.
His dedication to his craft is evident in his numerous accolades. He has received 12 first-place awards from the Sign of the Times International Design Competition, two first-place awards from the Society for Experiential Graphic Design and a first-place award with Walt Disney Imagineering from the Themed Entertainment Association.
“Mark Oatis’ legacy is one of creativity, mentorship and innovation,” said Jeff Young, executive vice president, YESCO. “The work he has done at the American Sign Museum is a shining example of his dedication to his craft and his ability to inspire others.”

Hailing from the golden age of 1950s roadside signage, the Lariat Motel sign stands as a modern-day monument at the Churchill Arts Council in Fallon.
The motel was demolished back in 2005, but owners Ray and Dee Dee Ferguson kindly donated the sign. With funding from the tourism commission and the city of Fallon, the sign was restored and preserved.
Our team at YESCO Reno brought the sign back to life. Using old photos and postcards provided by the council, we restored the sign’s original neon colors and luster. Mural painter Brent Logan spent 40 hours repainting the sign by hand, including the cowboy scene in the backdrop.
Recently, our team revamped the iconic Lariat sign, meticulously removing the neon tubing and repainting its backdrop once again. Given our roots in creating neon signs like the one for the Lariat Motel, we are proud to have preserved a piece of neon history for future generations to enjoy!

YESCO has completely restored all five exterior building signs and added a new “cocktails” sign at the historic Golden Steer Steakhouse Las Vegas.
As part of the project, the steakhouse’s main sign located above its entrance was removed and replaced with white polycarbonate and vinyl graphics. YESCO also manufactured and installed a custom gold-polished aluminum decorative topper to hide any electrical components discreetly above the main cabinet. All neon tubing on the main sign was also rotated and corrected to restore its original glow.
FUN FACTS:
● The Golden Steer Steakhouse has been continually operating in Las Vegas since
1958.
● Famous celebrities who have dined at the Golden Steer include Frank Sinatra
and Marilyn Monroe, among many others.
● In an effort to preserve the original, historic appearance of the Golden Steer
with the new sign cabinet, YESCO utilized photos depicting what the
steakhouse’s signage looked like in its early years.
● The sign restoration was part of a larger project to expand the Golden Steer as it
took over the neighboring space. The entire project recently received the
Mayor’s Urban Design Award in the category of “historic preservation.”
“As the oldest continually operating steakhouse in Las Vegas, we wanted to preserve the historic charm of the Golden Steer while also updating its iconic gold, burgundy and black signage,” said Jeff Young, executive vice president, YESCO. “We look forward to our signs greeting guests as they visit this must-experience landmark.”
YESCO restored the historic Del Mar Theatre marquee sign in Los Angeles. Retained by the Perrotin Art Gallery, YESCO created all-new neon tubes and sign faces to match the fresh paint scheme on the building. Additionally, LED lights were added to the marquee to illuminate the gallery’s programming.
As the Perrotin Art Gallery’s newest location, the Del Mar Theatre joins its other locations in Paris, Hong Kong, New York, Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai. Founded in 1990 by Emmanuel Perrotin, the company now has more than 86,450 square feet of exhibition space across the globe.
The Del Mar’s striped, blue-and-grey pattern unifies the building and signage in a bold fashion, echoing the legacy of billboards and advertising that define the urban boulevards of Los Angeles. The theatre originally opened its doors to the public in April 1939.

YESCO completely restored the vintage Rancho Super Car Wash pink elephant sign in Rancho Mirage, California. Retained by Preservation Mirage, which celebrates and protects the architectural history of the city, YESCO refurbished the sign’s neon tubing and worked with their vendor, Graffiti Inc., to provide the landmark with fresh paint
In 2023, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Rancho Mirage, the Rancho Super Car Wash sign was also designated as a historical landmark by the Rancho Mirage City Council, ensuring it will remain a permanent fixture on Highway 111 for generations to come.
“Reminiscent of America’s mid-century design and style, the Rancho Super Car Wash neon sign is the most iconic symbol of Rancho Mirage,” said Jeff Young, executive vice president, YESCO. “YESCO is proud to breathe new life into this historical landmark, so it can be enjoyed for decades to come.”

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A company rich with Utah roots is responsible for some of the most popular and recognizable signs and displays in Las Vegas.
“We integrated the exterior screen on the sphere,” said Young. “Allegiant Stadium of course with the Super Bowl is a massive project for us, it’s been done for a couple of years. We put nearly 4,000 signs in and outside the Allegiant Stadium.”
*Note that YESCO was one of many skilled contractors and companies who worked on the Sphere. YESCO's primary role in the project was to integrate S**O LED's technology on the exterior of the structure.
The Allegiant project helped YESCO stay afloat during the pandemic. The project provided some much-needed work during a time of uncertainty.
“My first journey into Allegiant you know after it was done someone said you know 4,000 signs how could it be? We got at the top of the escalator and well we did a 360 and we counted nearly 50 signs,” said Young. “The Allegiant spans 564 feet, that’s 188 yards long. It doesn’t look like that from a distance, but they are massive, massive signs.”
“You take signs for granted in some respect but every single one has to be meticulously designed and installed in a perfect way,” said Young.

We invite you to visit “Neon” a documentary available on Amazon Prime Video that explores the history of neon as well as its influence on American culture. YESCO, along with several prominent YESCO-designed signs, are featured in the documentary. The company has strong roots in creativity, artistry, and innovation which continues to inspire the work we do.

Beginning in 1932, YESCO began its journey as a premier designer, fabricator, and installer of neon signs in Las Vegas. YESCO’s founder, Thomas Young, was one who dreamed of lighting up Las Vegas. Since that time, YESCO has created some of the most vibrant and recognizable neon signs ever built. As the documentary describes these signs, and others like them, have shaped the history of Las Vegas, contributing to the establishment of classic neon signs as a “cultural icon.”
YESCO was recently featured on German Television show "Galileo X-Plorer" hosted by Claire Oelkers. The show follows YESCO journeyman Michael Laudenslager as he gives Claire a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to keep the lights on in Las Vegas.
The show featured Michael rappelling from the Harmon Retail Center LED digital screen to repair damaged LED cards, learning how to bend a glass "M" with Oscar Gonzalez, and working with Kenny West to install that same "M" at the Fabulous Welcome to Las Vegas sign.
The full show aired live in Germany.

YESCO completely refurbished the iconic “Wendover Will” neon cowboy sign with LED technology.
Retained by the City of West Wendover – which is located on Nevada’s eastern border – YESCO was tasked with replacing 1,184 feet of neon tubing with Allanson flex and RGB flex LED lighting to mimic the sign’s original look and feel. The new LED lighting also requires less maintenance and is more energy efficient than the neon tubing.
The 71-year-old landmark was also refreshed with a bright new coat of paint to match the original color scheme. Additionally, YESCO removed the existing letters at the base of the sign and installed new letters with the inclusion of the illuminated “Downtown” pan channel letters.
“From building the original ‘Wendover Will’ in 1952 to refurbishing it in 2023, YESCO is profoundly grateful to be tasked with the care and improvement of this legendary sign,” said Jeff Young, executive vice president, YESCO.
YESCO was awarded “Best Monument Sign” and “Designer’s Choice” for its Derby District Gateway sign at this year’s annual Colorado Sign Association (CSA) sign design contest.
Fabricated at YESCO’s Las Vegas facility, the Derby District Gateway sign is completely solar powered. With a complex light topper and colorful display, the distinctive sign welcomes visitors to the Derby District of Commerce City, Colorado. Melding the timeless elegance of mid-century modern aesthetics with the inviting charm of futurist Googie styling, the sign captures attention and fosters a sense of connection among the city’s vibrant residents.
This year’s sign design contest included more than 75 entries in design categories ranging from “Best Pylon Sign” to “Best Wall Sign,” “Best Unique Sign” and “Best Monument Sign.” The winners were chosen by judges from the Arizona Sign Association.
“The Derby District Gateway sign marks a satisfying milestone for YESCO as we continue to create award-winning signage while also shifting towards a future powered by renewable energy,” said Jeff Young, executive vice president, YESCO. “Our design team is so proud to be given such prestigious awards in this year’s contest.”
