It's still so hard to believe that after the burglary that effectively put us out of the western collectibles business... we actually got the stolen trailer back.
The mind cramp I'm left with may have permanently damaged my way of thinking. But that's not all bad.
Maybe the craziest part is that when we were alerted that the trailer had been found, my hope that it had been dumped before the thieves had a chance to steal anything went into such high gear, that I believed it. That is true faith!! True faith that was broken all to hell, but having true faith in anything, anymore, feels a little special.
It may be that having some true faith was what restored anything (at all) to us. My faith in humanity is shaken a little further every day, but my faith in God is never tested.
Still reeling in the aftermath of what became a defining mark of our summer 2024.

We loved this shop when we were in Santa Fe last week π
After being robbed, shopping is not at the forefront of your mind, but as we visited local antiques/pawn shops to pass out our laundry list of stolen merchandise... Santa Fe Antiques stands out in my memory as a wonderful shopping experience (if only we had been in the mood π).

Reunited, and it feels so good π
Yesterday, we got into our stolen trailer after a month gone. We had an idea of what had been left, but it wasn't until we opened it up that we had a chance to get into the boxes and see if they held any contents π€πΌ
If you've ever been robbed and then been returned any of the stolen things, you know that it is rare to find those items in perfect condition π
Sadly, our elderly and fragile cholla lamps sustained some damage. But, it was perfectly astounding to find our 10pc set of Tepco plates still packed in bubble, and so was our large ceramic longhorn platter! Even more surprising, the 3 cowboy motif glass light shades we brought are all still in perfect condition π€―
We only had one item stolen that didn't belong to us, and that turned up in the trailer, as well! I immediately reached out to its owner, who had been so gracious when we had to tell him we were robbed ππ½
Considering we had the trailer packed to the roof, what we've recovered is minor (not to mention the expense of 2 trips (Reno to Santa Fe and back) in 2 months... or the wear and tear on our vehicle and on us) but, finding anything at all is more than we had true hope for, and for that, we are grateful ππΌ
Unless more of our stolen merchandise shows up, this likely marks the end of this saga. This account will now return to darling vintage western goods and charming vintage lifestyle. Thanks for following our dramatic adventure, we appreciate the care and support β€οΈ
If you're in the Reno area, mark your calendar for our recovery event: The BIG 50% OFF SALE we'll be holding Labor Day weekend at our brick & mortar shopfront and follow that account for updates π
This is not exactly a happy ending, but it is the end of one of the biggest trials of our lives, and for that, we are very happy π₯Ή
The good news is that there were A FEW of our things left inside. We will be able to update our list of stolen items... slightly. It was an emotional reunion, like being reunited with lost friends π
Feeling the relief of closure, and looking forward to getting home!! π
Getting robbed 2000 miles from home is no joke! Thank you for the outpouring of kindness and concern this past month. It has been the boon to our sunken spirits, and we are so grateful ππΌ
Onward and upward β¬οΈβ¬οΈβ¬οΈ
Stay tuned for our postponed BIG 50% OFF SALE at our Reno, NV shopfront. We had to postpone the sale to come retrieve our stolen trailer, but we have rescheduled the sale for Labor Day weekend π
Reno bound ------> (I'll never again say, "... or, BUST!") π€
It's a business trip, and a crummy one at that π
But, a fresh margarita and good eats helps everything! π
Thank you, Santa Fe antiques/collectibles dealers, for being compassionate and vigilant in the community wide watch for our stolen goods ππ½
We get the trailer back tomorrow and will head for home. We didn't get our stuff back, but we've done what we could to try π
Yesterday marked one month since we were robbed of our cargo trailer full of western collectibles while on the road in Santa Fe, NM π«
Today, we begin the 2150 mile, 40-hour roundtrip back there to retrieve our recovered trailer... emptied of its contents π’
We have done the math and figure it costs us about $3000 to make the round trip with gas, meals, and hotels. The cargo trailer cost us $3500 π
It doesn't pencil. However, if we drive down there and get our trailer, we can also canvas the areas antiques and pawn shops looking for our things and circulating our lists of stolen goods, in-person π€πΌπ€πΌ
Since the morning of the robbery, I have been motivated by the phrase, "Do what you can do, and God will do what you can't do", which isn't exactly scripture, but it is roughly the same meaning as Colossians 3:23-24, loosely translated as, "Do your best, and let God do the rest" ππ½
So, we are going to do what we can do. And what we can do is make this journey across the sagebrush sea, again. Wish us luck. See you soon π
