The NYSMP thanks Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County Executive Director and valued NYS Mentor Vanessa Pino Lockel for profiling the Brentwood Union Free School District High School's Latina Mentoring Program in her February newsletter.

Vanessa is in her second year as a volunteer mentor at this program. She along with the other mentors share wisdom, experience and their greatest gift time with the student mentees!

The holidays came early for residents at Hempstead Assisted Living when Uniondale School District , Latina Mentoring Program (LMI) joined forces with Latina Moms Connect, Inc. to deliver some holiday cheer!

The theme for the Mentees this month is Relationship Building via Community and wow did they do a wonderful job putting this into action with the support of . The greatest lesson of service is when you do something for others you gain more than you give.

🍁Tis the season of gratitude and joy! The NYSMP's Latina Mentoring Initiative (LMI) at High School launched for the 23/24 school year last month and we could not be more thankful!

🍁Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Estrella Olivares-Orellana, Director of Multilingual Learners the LMI continues strong in its' second year. Thanks Dr. Olivares-Orellana, Uniondale Administrators, valued Mentors and awesome Mentees for your dedication to the program.

Regional Director Diane Andoscia Urso was Bay Shore School District, Bay Shore High School last month training Peer Support students in mentoring best practices as part of their leadership retreat.

NYSMP trains Peer Mentors throughout the state and no group is too big nor too small. If your district has a program or is interested in developing a one please contact the NYSMP by click the link in our bio.
