Before Severe Weather Strikes......

Make a plan for what you and your family will do if there's a power outage. Check with family, friends and neighbors who are elderly, have young children or medical conditions to ensure they have a plan. Don’t forget to include your pets in your planning.
Create or refresh your emergency kit. At a minimum, include non-perishable food, water, a flashlight, batteries, a battery-powered radio, a first aid kit and necessary medications.
Charge devices such as phones, laptops, portable chargers and other electronics that will help you stay connected.
Remember that all downed lines are dangerous. Stay as far away as possible from any downed lines and anything they may be touching. Call 911 and AEP Ohio immediately if you spot a potential hazard.

A broken line of severe storms is expected to develop and move through much of our service territory this afternoon into the evening. Our meteorologists are monitoring the potential for scattered 60-70 miles per hour wind gusts and possible tornadoes. Our crews are ready to respond and restore power safely and as quickly as possible if outages occur.

Stay tuned in to your local forecast for the latest updates.

Secure loose outdoor items (such as patio furniture, umbrellas and trampolines) that could become airborne.

We strongly encourage customers with medical issues and life-supporting equipment to have a backup power source and an alternate plan in the event of a power outage.
