I wanted to share a few photos of a most wonderful shop in Glidden, WI where I recently purchased an antique pine dry sink ( in last post). Jeff and Sue Pankratz are the proprietors. Message them for times to visit as they are doing shows quite frequently. Look for them at the Elkhorn Antiques show this weekend in southern Wisconsin with great primitives and early treasures!
I am so excited to have purchased this great early pine dry sink this past week from in Glidden, WI. I will share some photos of the shop soon! We were able to fit this in our camper to haul it home! A very successful camping trip!
A few things that inspire my in these northern climes this March. An with hearts I picked up on a recent trip to Tennessee.
Charlie is now in the top 5! He is my sister’s rescue dog and such a good boy! Please continue voting everyday until Feb.16th.
Vote for Charlie to be in Dogster or Catster Magazine and take home a $5,000 cash prize! Charlie loves all his toys but his favorite is his ball. It is a kong tennis ball with the squeaker in it. He will play catch and fetch all day long. He has lots of energy!
What a great hooked rug! This booth looks awesome! Good baskets, drawers, samplers! We may be heading to Nashville next week!❤️
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ getting ready to teach my sister-in-law and her sister how to hook rugs with a couple of little
confession: I designed and hooked this stocking in 2019 and never liked it. All artists and designers have creations stuffed away they aren’t necessarily proud of I know… but hey.. at least we are trying. Just keep on thinking, trying, dreaming and doing. The good ones are in there somewhere! ❤️😩🫤
Back to the studio today with only a few days left in 2022. Are you glad to see 2022 in the rear view mirror? A few random shots of things in my cozy space today.
That time of year when perhaps we all need a good relaxing brush! ☺️

Digging out was an all day project. I am lucky Dave is physically fit to keep us shoveled as well as a neighbor lady who is having heart problems. He got snow off the roof too. My studio has kind of a flat roof and this snow was heavy! Not the light and fluffy variety. So thankful we have power and only a few big branches down out there.
I’m “plowing” my way through my latest big rug… making some progress. A few random shots of some “simple” decorating for How can it be only two weeks away?
for talia maybe?

Starting a big rug with circles! Who doesn’t like circles😉 they go with everything! Soft greens, plaid, stripes, textured wools will give this rug some interest!
An old family photo from so long ago I haven’t the foggiest who they are. I wonder if this was taken on a dreary Wisconsin Thanksgiving Day much like today here. Anyway I love the photo.

I found a couple of weeks ago while out gathering junk! It needed a back spindle replaced and a little sprucing up with some fine sandpaper. I left the layers of old orange and green paint. Wonder if it was the “naughty chair”! Remember those? I was in kindergarten when I had my first encounter with one!😂😂😂
A special treat on the way home from camping this past week was a stop at the most wonderful in My long time friend Vicki Anderson ( picture in last photo with daughter and grandson and Molly. The shop is all decked out for fall and Halloween. An old bank building was remodeled and restored.. a lot of hard work and so worth it! Vicki just started her Instagram account and would love some followers!
I will be donating this basket of on Saturday for the at the annual in Prairie Farm, WI. The proceeds go to help hospice programs in our area as well as smaller schools in our rural area that can always use the help. We are camping at the Pioneer Park where the activities take place! The next pics are the inside of our camper. My cousin is parked beside us and I always think the cougar decal on the side of her camper is a cat looking out!😂😂😂 As you can see we camp in luxury in our my favorite part… the couch that reclines, has massage and heat. However the AC is keeping us cool today!
I can now post a photo of the rug I hooked for my second cousin Colin was so happy and hung it in his living room immediately! Blanche and Pepper are probably wondering who the two new cats who showed up in a box are!😂
Colin’s rug featuring his kitties Blanche and Pepper is coming along nicely… although I have to admit a fair amount of “reverse hooking” technical term for ripping out, has taken place! Color planning and tweaking on the go requires this at times! I’d also like to give a shout-out and big TY to for the inspiration for the primitive kitties! A few years ago I purchased a copy of her charming booklet entitled “And More Cats”. No one does primitive cats like Kelley! I just wanted to give credit where it’s due and acknowledge a great rug designer! The picture in the line-up here shows my basket of wool strips for this rug! I am using at last count over 15 different wools so far. The rug measures 20 by 20 inches. Having an enormous amount of fun hooking this one! Thanks to my sweet cousin Colin for getting the hook back into my hand and another rug on the frame!
When out of the blue your second cousin ( we haven’t yet met face to face🥹) texts you and says he would love one of your hooked rugs) well of course you are honored and want to create a rug worthy of him and the place above his living room couch where he intends to hang it. I knew of his beloved Blanche and Pepper from his FB and Instagram posts so suggested they might be willing subjects for the rug! And oh yes… he loves sunflowers! So the design came to be! ( oh did I mention his couch is blue?😂💙🐈⬛🐈🌻
Continuing the process of pulling loops on this new design of mine. So many of you have left the kindest and most encouraging words on my last posts on this rug! I thank everyone for taking the time to leave a comment! Bless all of your hearts!! I plan to show the entire rug after a little more of the background is hooked. I must confess.. my original plan was to have the lighter wools as the background but as I kept studying the rug all I could see was a brown background… so out came the brown wool bin! leaving the light background rows I already had hooked I just started filling in with beautiful browns! So… am anxious to hear your opinions on this choice. I’m using a #9 cut for the background.
Love is blue in this rug for sure! I’m finding wool I forgot I had and running out of a fun lavender blue I dyed a number of years ago. So mixing two shades to make it stretch. Forces me to get creative!💙🌀🔹🫐💙
These little round mats I’m hooking measure 10 inches and 11 inches. Trying to use strips from my scrap bags that are left over from other projects. if you will. a fellow ho**er and friend, mentioned the design could be called a Heap of Hearts! I like that a lot Leslee! Thank you!❤️
A little more hooked… but a hungry hubby waits for me to cook supper. We ate leftovers and pizza the last few nights. Making Phyllis Kraut tonight. It’s always hard for me to stop hooking and worry about food.. but I do get hungry too I suppose..🥴
I hooked this rug several years ago and has been a favorite to pull out this time of year.
Cold and frosty here this first day of 2022! Dave took this photo and is the January photo on the calendar he makes each year from his nature photos.
"Dancing in the Moonlight" my latest hooked rug design. I couldn’t get that song out of my head while I was hooking this!😂🦌🌙⭐️🐿🦊

Digging out once again here in northern WI. The Blue Jays have been frequenting the feeder this winter more than usual. Mr. Chill snowman rug warms up the studio and sweeps away the white stuff. Pattern available in my Etsy shop. www. Etsy.com/shop/redhousewoolstudio
A peaceful scene after a winter left us buried in white!
❄️ is here I do believe to stick around for a few months. wall hanging is one I stitched a few winters ago. Still a favorite design by it warms my soul along with our little wood stove which keeps us cozy!
A fun little wool appliqué piece I plan do the stitching on over Thanksgiving and the approaching snow storm! The pattern is pictured in the next pic. I plan to finish it as a pillow.
