Serving up specialty coffee and, soon, something to make your morning brew even better. linktr.ee/nomibrew
Drumroll, please 🥁
Our fourth generation prototype has dropped and we can't be more happy about it. What has changed, you ask? Well, Naomi is going to show you all the things so you can be as pumped up as we are.
Here is what we are most excited about:
- Grinder: Steel conical Burr grinder is REMOVABLE for easy cleaning and the grinder noise has significantly decreased from the third generation
- Bean to Cup Time: Under 3 minutes for the small cup, including grind time. We have a "Schedule Brew" for those who are truly impatient so you can just walk in and grab your cup immediately
- User Options: Due to popular demand, we implemented a "Just Brew" that bypasses the grinder. If you don't want to wake others up in the morning, this helps you do that!
- Brew Style: Immersion style!! Think French Press but with a touch of a button
We are going to be following Specialty Coffee Association guidelines to ensure we are making the best cup possible, every time. We will get into all those nerdy details to explain how coffee machines are not created equal and why this matters to us so much.
Spread the word, folks. The perfect cup of coffee is coming soon in a single-serve machine near you.
Best of all? Not one single (awful) pod will be used.
And place a pre-order for 20% off today. Link in bio.
Hi, my name is Naomi and I founded Nomi Brew. It’s time we finally meet.
I first started working on this crazy coffee machine idea back in July of 2021 while balancing another company. Because of that, I decided to not launch social until I had more of a team. I instead focused on the initial idea and getting that idea to a working prototype. Fast forward, we made it to our third prototype and received our first round of funding late last year. With that in place, I then started building the right team.
You’ve met our Director of Quality, Scott McMartin, through earlier posts. He is a fountain of coffee expertise and I thought we could first start sharing in-depth knowledge about coffee. Fast forward again, I soon realized we were missing the heartbeat of Nomi Brew. We paused social media until we could do it better.
That’s where I am coming in.
You see, I founded Nomi Brew with a heart for doing good and a vision to radically improve how we drink coffee. I believe we can have the best cup of coffee without pod waste while doing good for the farmers. I believe we can improve single-serve coffee and ultimately, do better with coffee in America. I believe we can have the cake and eat it too.
There are alarming things happening around sustainability in coffee and coffee may not be around for the foreseeable future. There are lots of complicated factors in this but the easiest way to solve this is to pay for better quality coffee. And have fun doing it, in my opinion.
So I’m going to pull back the curtain and give you an inside look at what we’re doing at Nomi Brew, from product development to our journey toward manufacturing. You’ll see our commitment to quality and why sustainability is at the core of everything we do.
Along the way, you’ll get to know me and my team more. We are a fun bunch of people but remain serious about making the best cup of coffee possible and doing as much good as possible with Nomi Brew.
Get ready, folks. You’re in for a whole lot of good ahead.
P.S. I have a Persian cat named Louie who loves to be grumpy but is so cute!
We had a great time sharing about the mission and vision for Nomi Brew last Thursday at the beautiful Oracle campus in Austin! It was inspiring to hear other founders speak and encouraging to hear the feedback from investors!
Special thanks to the TEN Capital Network event and the hard their TEN team!
If you're wondering where our hearts are at Nomi Brew, you need not look further than these beautiful faces. ❤️❤️
Our love for these coffee pickers is the main reason we do what we do. ❤️
I know I sound like a broken record over here but you may be new here. One of the reasons specialty coffee is so darn good is that the coffee cherries are all handpicked, at the most optimal time, by coffee pickers. These are beautiful humans who we just adore.
Why are these pickers so incredible, you ask? Well, we have an entire list on that and we are happy to share. Glad you asked. 😉
☕️ Specialty coffee pickers are highly skilled individuals who only select the ripest coffee cherries for harvest. This requires massive attention to detail and, boy, are they fast in doing so. We will share videos of pickers in action to show you!
☕️ Sustainability is the name of the game! Many specialty coffee farms prioritize sustainable farming practices, which often extend to fair wages and better working conditions for specialty coffee pickers. In addition (and this is huge), specialty coffee pickers are compensated higher for their labor
☕️ Season work: this may not be obvious but coffee cherries are not available all year (think of growing cucumbers in Texas...it's only a summer thing). Because of this, pickers work long hours to ensure all ripe cherries are collected promptly
We love our coffee pickers. Keep buying specialty coffee, folks, as you'll put good people to work!
Can we get an amen?!
Had such a fun visit with The Crowther Group, LLC group this morning, founded by my good friend Thomas Crowther! They tried three different Nomi Brew coffees and we demoed out the Podbuster! I'm thankful for their support and positive encouragement! Thank you for making the time for me to stop by!
Stopped by our friends at Asher Media, Inc. in Dallas to show off the Podbuster! It was a pleasure to spend time with such a wonderful group of people and loved their feedback and encouraged they gave!
With Hottest Kickstarter Projects – we just got recognized as one of their top fans! 🎉
Insects?!?? In coffee???? Yep. It's real. 🐜
And keeping it real is Jill from Cloud City and Scott from Nomi Brew to fill us in on just what this looks like.
Be sure to buy specialty coffee to keep your coffee insect free!
Stopped by our friends at Broadcast Coffee (home to the delicious Temple Pastries of pure delight) to show off the Podbuster! Great group of people who will be a future roasting partner of Nomi Brew!
Demoed the machine in a building's lobby today and got raw, unfiltered feedback on the single serve coffee machine today!
What's the perfect grind setting for your coffee?! Scott and Jill share their thoughts on how to determine which grind goes with which coffee!!
We are thrilled to announce the day is finally here: we will be taking pre-orders for our coffee machine next week! The Nomi Brew Podbuster is a single serve coffee machine with a grinder who is making its debut next week on Kickstarter!
After three years of working with engineers and coffee experts, we are thrilled to unveil the Podbuster. We have worked with determination to make your mornings easy and delicious, with the goal of making a pour-over like cup of coffee with a touch a button. And all within three minutes, with only a filter to throw away. The dream is now a reality and the machines will go into production by early 2025!
What’s the catch?! Well, no catch because it’s an open system (read: use any coffee you want!)!
This beauty starts at $149 on Kickstarter on April 23 but that deal lasts only 72 hours (I guess that’s the catch?!). It then jumps up to $175 so get in early. Final retail will be $250.
Come join us as we endeavor to make better coffee and a better planet a reality!
After so many years, sleepless nights, tears, laughter and utter joy...it's here.
Well, almost. Our Kickstarter campaign launches next month.
If you're ready for better coffee, without pods, while helping the planet, comment 'I am in.' We will send you the special link detailing all about this goodness.
While touring a coffee buying station in 🇨🇴 , we turned around and met this nice fella.
☕️
Meet Sandra from . We had the pleasure of meeting her at a coffee conference in Cali, Colombia and then visited her coffee farm in Quindío, Colombia. We later purchased coffee directly from her for our Colombian offerings like Doctor Dreamy and truly admire her work as a specialty coffee farmer! She is a part of a family run coffee farm, running three generations strong.
A little bit about Sandra and her family:
Her grandparents arrived as muleteers (people who drive mules) to the Quindío coffee region in 1930 in search of better life opportunities. It was there they built their lives around coffee and today, almost 100 years later, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren continue their legacy.
☕️ 🇨🇴 ☕️
We love coffee and the pickers who pick those sweet red cherries from those trees! ❤️
One of things about specialty coffee that makes them so darn good is that all those cherries are picked by hand. Pickers are then paid for how much they pick from that day and are often rewarded for picking the most optimal cherries.
Some fun facts for you as you enter your weekend:
☕️ Coffee cherries are the fruit of the coffee tree
☕️ Inside each coffee cherry are two seeds that is then lovingly turned into coffee
☕️ Like wine, the flavor profiles of coffee can be influenced by factors like the altitude, soil and climate. We prefer coffee grown at higher altitudes, as the cherries tend to be more sweet and more complex in flavor
What's your favorite coffee origin and why does it stand out to you?
☕️
Our team just got back from an amazing journey to coffeeland! We connected with old friends and met new friends along the way. We rode horses through the coffee fields, saw coffee trees in full harvest and lived to tell about it.
Cherries may not be the first thing you think of when you think about coffee, but that’s exactly where those beautiful beans come from. That’s right — coffee comes from a fruit! So, where do these coffee cherries come from? And how do they go from a flowering plant to fruit, to seed, to bean? Read our latest blog post to find out.
