Crappies- If you are jigging them, you need to be there at daylight to about 8a.m. and 6p.m. to dark is the best times. But in the daytime trolling seems to be more productive at 20-30 feet deep.

Catfish- the normal baits, a few big flat heads showing up

Perch- if you can find them, cut bait and worms seem to be best

Bass- worms or Gitzit's seem to do well

Honor and Remember.

We are grateful to all of those who paid the ultimate price for our country to be free. We pray for comfort for their loved ones. Locally, we remember and honor John Noble Holcomb. John was posthumously awarded the congressional medal of honor. He is one of only 14 recipients from the State of Oregon. A link to the account of his heroism and sacrifice is in the comments below.

From Jan: About 20 years ago, this community sponsored a spaghetti feed for Hilary Bonn, because she was starting treatments to fight AML, a type of leukemia. Those moneys started the Hilary Bonn Benevolent Fund, which has granted around $10,000 per year to individuals in our Panhandle area who needed help with travel/food/housing costs while fighting their own medical needs. Private donations continued to keep this fund active, but this year of tight money, the fund has dwindled to an amount unable to provide for future people who need help. After much discussion, it was decided to have another spaghetti feed to boost the coffers of this worthwhile organization. May 24 at the Richland Grange, (the old Elementary School Building) is the yummy pasta day. For a modest fee of $7.50, a person can have a choice of gourmet sauce (garden vegetables and meat in a mild tomato blend), meat/tomato sauce, or vegetarian sauce on rich wheat noodles, with lettuce salad and bread. Families can eat for $20 dollars. There will be a silent auction of many new items still housed in their original packaging, some antique items, a load of gravel donated by Comco Construction, gift certificates, plus a pie/desert auction hosted by our famous auctioneer Meb Dailey. Doors open at 4:30. Come view the prizes, eat a wonderful meal and laugh with neighbors.
