What Evolving Entails 🌱

Hello curlfriends!

There are some exciting changes happening at Evolve Naturally by Shannon. You will begin to see upgraded services and adjusted pricing and here’s why…(if you have previously booked appointments as of today, services/prices are the same until your next reservation).

Evolve Naturally by Shannon was originally established in August of 2019. Now, two years later, I’ve been creating, operating, and mastering the art of hair care. It’s a major investment of time, money, my physical body, and my mind. Though, I’ve always wanted to create a space that’s safe, clean, private, and a place where you can feel at ease and relieved even if just in that moment. My hope is that you all have experienced nothing less.

This month serves as the fifth month of active entrepreneurship for me and I have learned a ton already. Honestly speaking, I had no idea of the depth of business ownership prior to now and I still don’t know it all. The search for top quality all natural ingredient products has been tough but I am committed to providing nothing but the best. Even down to the selection of music, diffuser scent, and brightness of the lighting are considered before you even enter.

Transparent moment…

I must admit that I had not considered the cost of starting up nor the maintenance that Evolve Naturally would require. From the investment cost of products shipped from Canada, to the various shampoos and conditioning treatments I use specifically for your hair type and scalp needs, and the additional necessities, I honestly have not set pricing appropriately. 😏

Natural haircare is a specialty and it is essential that your curls be handled with care. My vow to you all is to continue my education in this field in order to provide the best solutions when it comes to treating your hair. With this investment must come an adjustment in services and the costs associated with the them.

Hello everyone!

Just wanted have “keep in minds” for you all.

1. If you check out my booking website on Vagaro, you will see all availability. You can, more than likely, catch an opening faster than I can.

2. You may cancel your appointment via Vagaro up to 24 hours before the reservation. Please do not send cancellation by email through Vagaro because I’m not alerted about the message.

3. If you cancel on the day of or do not show for your appointment, you will be sent an invoice for the total of the services you selected. You will not be able to book again until payment is remitted. I understand the unexpected happens at times, however, your absence greatly affects the flow of the work day. Often, I waive the first cancellation fee for emergencies. Please be mindful.

4. Canceling the day of or not showing blocks at least an hour from my schedule. Some services withhold more time and prevents others from taking that appointment time. There are clients who are on the waitlist and desire to get in ASAP.

5. PLEASE call before exiting your vehicle when you arrive for your appointment. I may be finishing up the previous client and/or need to clean before servicing you.

6. If you contact me after business hours, please anticipate my reply the following business day.

7. Need an early or late appointment outside of regular operating hours? Just ask. Fees DO apply and opportunities are limited.

8. Need to book recurring appointments? Ask me how.

Silk Press:
This opportunity requires the use of heat from a flat iron and hair dryer and the use of a Denman brush. Model must have at least shoulder length hair, be able to stay until the completion of the session, and agree to taking photos during the process.

Platinum Blonde:
The Platinum Blonde model must have well moisturized and maintained hair. Model must commit to regular visits for the upkeep and overall hair health after initial application. Consultation is required. Model must be able to stay for the entire duration of processing and styling.

Hey gorgeous!

Hope you all doing well as the days get longer and the temperature rises. Hello summertime!

I wanted to share some quick tips and advice while you are caring for those luscious curls in this season.

Stay hydrated.
Eat well.
Stress less.

Easy right? If you help me to help you with those kinks, coils, and ringlets, I promise your tresses will be full of moisture and in great health. Now I know this is the season for braids and putting that hair away but DO keep in mind...those ends need to be maintained every 6-8 weeks!

Styling at home? Well, I’ll be providing some tips periodically just for you.

‘Tis the season for a wash & go. What is a wash & go exactly? Glad you asked because I want to share some ways to help your preserve your style.
Now I know many of you say that you have no curl pattern, your hair is 4c, and it’s just nappy. I hear this all too often. Truth is that no matter your curl pattern, you CAN achieve a wash & go. Follow these steps below:

1. Start with your hair well shampooed and conditioned. DO NOT wring out all the water in your hair because you’re going to need it.

2. Section the hair into 4-8 sections. This helps to maintain control so that the other sections of your hair won’t get in the way.

3. Spray a water-based leave in conditioner on the first section (I prefer working from the nape up to the crown of the head so the previously styled section will be left undisturbed).

4. Apply your curl defining product whether you prefer gel or cream. Not sure which to use? I recommend a curling cream. Some products will leave a residue if you use too much which is why it’s useful to balance it with a liquid leave-in.

5. Once you add your product, bring small sections together in your fingers to clump the curls together. This is called “shingling.” Be careful not to run your fingers through too many times or you will find the hair to be frizzy. If it looks frizzy while it’s wet then it will appear the same as it dries.

6. Repeat on each section and once you are finished applying product to the entire head, you MAY need to take a little of the product off with a microfiber towel. Why microfiber? This type of towel absorbs less than cotton which also helps to prevent frizz and dryness.

7. Drying time! Now, some of us don’t mind allowing our hair to air dry but the contact of dry heat really helps to lock the curls in for a long lasting style. A hooded dryer or blow-dryer with a diffuser are great choices for drying.

Scheduling Your Appointments

Hi there,

I hope you have had a productive week thus far and that you’ll enjoy the warm temperatures this weekend. Below you’ll find some things to keep in mind as you reserve your appointments online. Please note: I am rarely able to notify you directly if an open slot becomes available. If you add your name and service to the waitlist, Vagaro will instantly notify you regarding available appointment times.

- Need to cancel an appointment? Please log in to your account on Vagaro. You will be able to view all past and future appointments. Select the appointment you want to cancel and make adjustments as needed.

- If you would like to be notified of any cancellations, PLEASE get on the waitlist. If the day and time you selected becomes available you will receive notification. Vagaro is pretty accurate and this is the best and quickest method to use if you want to schedule sooner than what the calendar shows.

- ADD-ON Services: As you schedule an appointment please select your style first, then any additional services. There is an option under the first service you select that says +Add Service. The notes section is only for details or questions and does not allot proper timing for your request.

- Each service has a designated amount of time. When you book your style, the system will block the schedule for the amount of time it takes to perform the service. If you add on a service, you will see a different time for that selection. No two services can be booked at the same time. The add on will be booked at the next available time on the schedule. Example: Two Strand Twists are listed for a 2 hour timeframe. If you book the twists at 1pm but want to add a trim, you will see that the trim is scheduled at 3pm.

- Book ahead! Want to ensure an appointment for a specific day and time? Book as early as possible. Don’t forget that recurring appointments can be reserved. Ask me how.

- PLEASE be sure to CALL me upon your arrival from your vehicle. If you arrive early please stay in the car until we have spoken. In this case, you may be asked to wait until the actual appointment time because of cleaning procedures or the completion of the previous client’s services. I try to reduce wait time as much as possible and would like to be first to the Sola door to greet you.

- Thank you for complying with the mask request!

- Finally, July will be open for booking soon and has been reserved as Client Appreciation Month! Keep watching 👀

Mask Update...

Dear Evolve Naturally by Shannon family,

The CDC has stated that mask requirements for vaccinated individuals have been lifted. However, during your visit to the salon you WILL be required to remain masked for the duration of your services whether you have received the vaccine or not. NO EXCEPTIONS.

If you are not willing to do so, please be sure to cancel your appointment up to 24 hours before. It is my intent to protect you all as well as myself and my family. I will maintain all cleaning and disinfecting practices in the salon space and try to keep capacity at no more than 3 individuals at a time.

I have been getting booked before the new month even begins. Thank you! Here are some ways to snag the exact appointment day and time you want:

* Book your next appointment right after checkout (or while you’re in the chair...I’ve seen some of you all getting a head start).

* Schedule recurring appointments for a specific day of the week and time. Ask me how.

* Book ahead! I encourage you to book your slot up to six months in advance. You can always adjust if need be.

* Watch for cancellations!!! If you are on the waitlist and an appointment becomes available, you will be sent a notification alerting you about the opening and have only 24 hours to respond.

* Stalk the books! You’ll be surprised what you find sometimes.

As most of you know I have switched natural hair product lines which has been a challenge. Thanks for the feedback on how they are working for your hair and please be patient. I am awaiting approval to become a distributor for Earthtones Naturals products. This is challenging because I want to provide the necessities for your hair and scalp’s care between your visits. I believe in top quality hair care and assure you all that since the change was made, I have purchased nothing less than the best. There is still a limited stock of Sweethead Naturals products available for purchase.

Thank you for allowing me time to take care of self. It was much needed and I have realized how necessary it is to unplug.

Happy May! This month I celebrate mom’s and look forward to the upcoming Mommy/Daughter sessions. Mothers are the true backbone of a family so be sure to love on them as much as you can (beyond a holiday). For those flowers that have been plucked from the earth, we are grateful for the moments spent and even through grief, find joy in the forever memories.
