Parker Loesch
I am a massage therapist and bodywork practitioner in the Greater Richmond Area.
Cupping a great way to increase blood flow and lymph flow. It is a non invasion approach to having a therapeutic experience that is lasting and pro.
Suger scrubs. Doing them sucks, mostly because of the massive mess they make. BUT they do wonders for the quality of your skins.
Structural Integration is an approach that begins by assessing the individual's posture, gait, and muscle balance and then works to re-pattern the body to a healthy and pain-free way of moving. Postural dysfunction (i.e., the body is stuck in habitual posture) can mean a forward head, excess hip rotation, one shoulder or hip higher than the other, etc. Posture is not static and can only be understood within the context of movement. This means there is no such thing as a "perfect" posture. Rather, there is a balanced posture and healthy movement. That is what Structural Integration provides. As a modality, Structural Integration can help individuals with chronic pain caused by habitual postural dysfunction by re-educating the body to work and move in better harmony.
Myofascial cupping releases tension in the connective tissue (fascia) like myofascial therapy. Using this modality, the therapist will place cups with fascial restrictions and create a vacuum to pull tissue upward and hold it in that configuration. This process lifts the fascia and muscle, creating space in the tissue for increased blood flow and release. Typically, light oil or cream is used to prevent pinching. After a session, red spots are typically left where the cups were located. They will fade over 3-7 days. Myofascial cupping can be an entire session or integrated into other sessions as an add-on.
Massage and bodywork are forms of healthy touch offered for pain relief, relaxation, stress reduction, structural balance, and emotional healing. Regular massage or bodywork can change how we feel about and engage with our bodies, which can ultimately change how we engage with others and experience the world around us. Below is an overview of the many types of massage and bodywork that I use in a treatment session.
The process is never-ending. I am currently reviewing the abdomen, chest, and breathing for class this weekend. This is all part of my master plan of becoming a structural integrator through
Here we go!
Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish and can be integrated into a Swedish massage without any significant adjustment to the treatment. The main difference is the depth of pressure applied. A deep tissue massage consists of slow and broad strokes, with some strokes taking up to two minutes. This allows the therapist to engage deeper layers of tissue and muscle to release bound-up restriction and tension. Oftentimes, this massage approach leads to slight soreness, similar to yoga or stretching. This is normal. Drink lots of water and stay active to integrate the benefits of this approach more fully.

Passive stretching can help increase range of motion, flexibility, and joint mobility. It is similar to regular active stretching (yoga, pilates) but with the help and guidance of a bodywork practitioner. The significant difference between active and passive stretching is that active stretching tends to prepare the muscle for an activity such as working out., while passive stretching allows for relaxation, deeper flexibility, and profound joint mobility.

Your calve muscle is comprised of two main muscles: your gastronemius and soleus. The main function of this group of muscles is assisting in everyday activities such as walking, running, and jumping. The muscles feed into the calcanius tendon (commonly known as the Achilles tendon), wraps around the calcanius bone into the planter fascia. When these muscles are locked short, they can compress the heel bone. A compressed heel bone messes with the ligaments in the foot and can create disfunction in body structure.
Massage and bodywork can help create space in the tissues, freeing the calcanius promoting better balance, stronger gait, and greater ankle mobility.

Holiday hours. Fyi , I am available on Christmas Eve morning. Book fast before the stress of the holidays!
In 2021, I decided to make a massive career change from higher education to massage therapy. So I went back to school , in PA, passed my licensing exam, moved to Virginia, started my own business, and helped over 800 people manage their pain, find calm and rest during stressful times and develop long lasting partnerships with other practitioner and businesses. It has been such an honor.
Changing careers was scary, but I chose to act with courage and moved with confidence as I fell more in love with my craft!
