The next Positive Behavior Supports Course is October 7 - November 18, 2024.

Participants will learn how to conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) as well as develop and implement a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). This positive approach focuses on ensuring student dignity and enhancing quality of life through the development of new skills and reduction of problem behaviors.
The online course format delivers course content through recorded presentations, case study examples, and supplemental learning activities. Additionally, online group discussions are facilitated by an ASD professional.
Completion outcomes include a Certificate of Completion and 30 contact hours.

The next Evidence-Based Practices to Teach Students with ASD course begins Monday, September 9th, and runs through October 14th.
This course provides educators with knowledge and skills to instruct students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the educational setting including an overview of the importance of good instruction, appropriate skill selection, and evidence-based practices, including antecedent-based interventions, visual supports, systematic instruction, and interventions to promote social and communications skills.

Bus drivers and transportation staff work directly with students with autism and are critical liaisons between home and school.
"Safety for All: Autism Training for Transportation Staff" covers the characteristics of autism and gives strategies for working with these students, with examples specific to bus drivers and transportation staff. Congratulations to our Project SEARCH graduates from Ft. Eustis: David Freeman, Tionna Brooks, January Byrd, James Fox, Hannah Wymer, Brandon White, Thomas Moody, Lionel Washington, and Mason Simmons.
They join the program’s 269 alumni, 93% of whom have gone on to obtain employment.
Project SEARCH is a nine-month training program designed for students with disabilities aiming for competitive employment. Hosted entirely within businesses, it concentrates on honing employability skills. Interns in the program engage in three distinct internships, receiving training and delving into their career interests. Since 2008, VCU-RRTC has partnered with Project SEARCH, presently collaborating with five host businesses in the greater Richmond area.
The VCU Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (VCU RRTC) is part of the VCU School of Education.
