What fun it was to host the University of Virginia Darden Graduate School of Business students today. After enjoying breakfast pizza (of course) and cinnamon pecan rings, we conducted a tour of our bakery and shared a bit of Ukrop's history. We hope we've gained some new food fans!

Firing up the grill during the holiday? Executive Chef Tom Pearce put this quick recipe together for us nearly 25 years ago: Grilled Pound Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream and Fruit

Ukrop’s Loaf Pound Cake
1-pint Strawberries, washed and hulled
2-3 Ukrop’s Peaches, halved and sliced
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 pint Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipping Cream, to garnish, Non-stick vegetable spray then
Pre-heat grill to medium-high.
Slice pound cake into 1” thick slices.
In a bowl, combine peaches, strawberries, and sugar; toss and set aside for 10-15 minutes.
Spray pound cake with vegetable spray and grill for 1-2 minutes on each side.
To assemble, place pound cake on a plate, top with ice cream and fruit.
Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit the (at the old Virginia Center Commons Mall), drop by and prepare yourself to be amazed. Basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, gymnastics, and even a Rubik’s cube competition have been held. Oh and Ukrop's food is being served there as well!
