New this year: Adults AND Kids can apply!
We launched the Capable Campaign in 2017 as part of our larger NPO with the mission to represent diverse perspectives from the disability community, provide adult role models with disabilities for all youth, and to demonstrate the power of inclusion. Every year, models are nominated and selected to be featured at our annual portrait exhibition at The Virginia Museum of History & Culture and their powerful stories are proudly shared with the community on social media.
We are now accepting applications for The 2023 Capable Campaign. Applications are due by March 31, 2024 through our website (link in bio). Nominate yourself or others from the Disability Community today!
Applicants should live in Virginia. Models will also need to be available to attend a scheduled photo shoot date on either April 20 or April 27 at The Virginia House.
At the end of the spring, we will share out the portraits and profiles of each model. All of the photography has been donated by a talented team of professional photographers.
The campaign will culminate to the Annual Capable Exhibition at The Virginia Museum of History & Culture. It will open in June 2024 and be open to the public through the end of the year. The 2023 exhibit is still up at the VMHC for the public to enjoy!

Our Story
The Next Move Program is a year-round internship program for young adults with developmental disabilities. The program is managed and supervised by our team of certified special education teachers. Students are placed as a group within a business in order to gain much needed work experience. Students spend 50% of their day in a classroom onsite at the business learning work readiness skills, social skills, and life skills.
According to employee surveys and interviews, host companies benefit from this program with boosts in productivity, increased diversity, improved corporate culture, and a lasting legacy in the community. In addition to the organizational benefits outlined above, The Next Move Program addresses the unemployment crisis for individuals with disabilities in this community:
· 22,000 students with disabilities graduate each year in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
· Almost 70% of these students graduate from school and are unable to find or keep employment.
With your help, we can provide both transferable work experiences and education to empower these young adults students to reach their potential. Everyone deserves the opportunity to work. We are currently looking for business partnerships to help meet this dire need in our community.
