We love celebrating here at Dr. Tavel, but it’s important to consider eye protection when dealing with fireworks. Most fireworks-related injuries occur during July, and the most recent Consumer Product Safety Commission report found that 19% of fireworks injuries were eye injuries.
Keep your eyes safe this summer and enjoy holiday traditions with these important safety tips:

💥 Always have an adult supervise children. Sparklers can burn up to 1800°F!

💥 Don’t shoot fireworks out of a glass or metal container.

💥 Never point or throw fireworks at another person!

💥 Keep everyone at a safe distance of at least 500 feet when setting off fireworks.

💥 Firework didn’t ignite the first time? Soak it in water and discard it. Eye trauma and other injuries can occur when people mistake a firework for a “dud”.

Dr. David is honored to have been named one of three Regional Advisory Doctors (RADs) with Dr. Tavel. In this newly created position, along with Dr. Kailey Daniel and Dr. Fareesa Siddiqui, she will mentor and provide peer support to a team of doctors, facilitate monthly regional meetings, assist in recruiting and onboarding new doctors, and collaborate with the leadership team to consistently ensure that Dr. Tavel Family Eye Care continues to be a leading provider of eye care in Indiana.
