Brain injuries are tricky. One moment you’re fine and the next you aren’t. A sneaky reminder when things are going well that they are not as they once were.
Jamie had a seizure yesterday. He had just gotten to church for a meeting, something he does every Monday. Everything was fine and then it wasn’t.
Jamie was transported to the local hospital and is being monitored and should be able to go home tomorrow. We are hoping with some adjustments to his medications he will not have another seizure. But brain injuries are tricky and there is no guarantee.
Jamie is thriving two years after his life was forever changed but there are still struggles and worries. This setback is just a setup for the comeback.
Please continue to keep Jamie in your thoughts. Continue to keep his family in your thoughts, especially his kids. This is not an easy road to travel and Jamie is doing it with grit, strength and your support.

Two years. May 3, 2022 feels like a lifetime ago and also feels like yesterday. It can be difficult to wrap your head around where life was and where it currently is.
Jamie is doing wonderful and continues to work on life after. He is enjoying life in Florida, especially the warm weather. He recently got his license back and has been loving being back on his pride and joy. The Snot Rocket (🤢) even placed at a recent bike show. Thanks to two wonderful friends, Doug and Jeff, for delivering it with care so he could have that piece of his soul back.
Jamie has been going to the gym and continues to work on his strength. I can’t wait for him to visit PA so I can drag him to the gym for a sibling workout.
The justice system continues to move extremely slowly and while it’s frustrating and we all want this chapter to close we take solace that the criminal who did this sits behind bars. We can only hope the system works as it should and he continues to stay there for a very long time.
Thank you for your continued positivity and thoughts. Thank you to those who have stuck with Jamie through this. It is a testament of who has his back and we are thankful for every one of you that does. Thank you for your continued support for Nicole and the kids, their life changed forever too on that day.
Cheers to another year of healing and moving forward. 🥂

Today begins Brain Injury Awareness month. Something our family didn’t know too much about just a couple of years ago.
No two traumatic brain injuries are alike and can vary in severity. Because the brain is such a complicated organ it can be difficult to predict how someone will recover from a brain injury.
Jamie’s recovery is nothing short of a miracle. He has surpassed what anyone thought would be possible. Jamie has had to relearn almost everything he once knew, even the most basic functions of life. He has thrived because of his doctors, his dedicated therapists and most importantly his family and friends. There are still things that Jamie is working on and some things that will likely never be the way they were. We are all learning this new life together.
During this National Brain Injury Awareness month, I challenge you to learn something about brain injuries and educate someone else.
~Jacqui
Jamie didn’t waste anytime…. His biggest goal was to get his license back and get back on his pride and joy. Today that happened!
So happy Jamie has this piece of his life back.
Please continue to think of his continued recovery but also his safety as he gets back out there.
Our absence of updates doesn’t mean there hasn’t been hard work happening. Jamie King is out here making big moves in his recovery!
Jamie will gain so much independence and even more normalcy having his license back. Such a huge step and accomplishment.
The judicial process continues to move at a snails pace and while we wished it moved faster we are happy the coward who tried to take his life continues to sit in a cell.

It has been a year since Jamie had his Cranioplasty surgery. Another year of healing. Another year of growth and learning to live again.
Brain injuries are a lifetime healing process. A constant challenge that is ever evolving. Jamie has been able to get back to some of the things he enjoyed in the past. He continues to work hard to improve on some of the deficits that remain. It is truly amazing how far he has come.
Jamie will face some challenges in the upcoming months as we move closer to a potential trial. The judicial process moves slow but we are being patient and remaining positive that justice will be served. It is not easy to look at the person who changed your life but there is also a fire inside to make sure that person faces the consequences they deserve.
Please continue to keep Jamie in your thoughts as we move through this next phase. Continue to pray for his healing. Please keep Jamie’s family in your thoughts as they are all still learning this new life with him. Thank you once again for your continued thoughts, love, and support.

Today Jamie did what most would find impossible. But after seeing what Jamie’s done in the last year, I don’t think anyone is shocked in his strength.
Today for the first time since May 3, 2022 Jamie got to face Jabril Ali at his preliminary hearing. Jamie sat on that stand and answered questions reliving that night and what happened. Jamie sat there alive and with confidence while the defendant sat handcuffed in a red jumpsuit. Today wasn’t easy for Jamie but no doubt it was healing and showed how courageous he is.
The case has officially been moved out of Chester, PA to a higher court with all charges being held. We are looking forward to Jamie finally getting justice. We are hoping for a speedy case so this chapter can finally close.
Thank you to those who showed up today to support Jamie in the court room. Your presence was heavy and noticed by everyone in that room. Thank you for continuing to support Jamie and showing him you’re there for him.
Please continue to keep Jamie and family in your thoughts and prayers.

Jamie and I (and the kids) are back in Delco for a couple weeks. Within hours of being here we stopped at the beer distributor bc Jamie was in search of Prime.
As we walk out this gentleman right here calls me over to his vehicle and asks if the man I’m with was the guy that was shot by Jabril Ali? I said yes he is! And he reaches out his hand to shake mine and says I’m Frank the US Marshal that arrested Ali!!!

"May 3, 2022 was just another day. Jamie was working his repo job just like any other night but on this night someone made a decision to forever change Jamie's path".
That is the first entry of this page, Jamie's Journey. I wrote it on May 7, 2022, 4 days into this endless journey. It's been 365 days since Jamie's path was forever changed. 365 days of fighting, healing, and rebuilding. It is a marathon and not a sprint except this marathon is forever.
There is so much to be grateful for. Jamie has come further than anyone could have imagined and he continues to work on those deficits that are still there.
Over the past 365 days, Jamie has worked incredibly hard to relearn everything that once came easily. He's gone from being unable to speak to recently being discharged from speech therapy. He's gone from being unable to use the left side of his body to running on a zero gravity treadmill and taking daily walks around his neighborhood.
None of this would be possible without his family, friends, and Jamie's medical team. Every single person who has been involved in his care has had a hand in where he is today. There are so many people who got him to where he is today. The Chester City first responders at the scene. The doctors, nurses and therapists at Crozer Medical Center. The doctors, nurses, and therapists at Bryn Mawr Rehab and Magee Rehab Center. The home health nurses and even the lab techs at LabCorp. The therapists he continues to work with.
While there is so much to be grateful for there is also sadness and grief and anger. While so much has been regained, so much was permanently lost that day. While so much of Jamie has remained the same, so much has changed.
Thank you, all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers, your positive messages, and all of your continued support. Each and every one of you has played a role in Jamie's healing.
There is one thank you that can never properly be expressed though. To the person who called 911 that night, thank you. From everyone who loves Jamie, thank you. Thank you for getting involved when others chose to look the other way. Thank you for saving Jamie's life.
The definition of miracle is:
mir·a·cle
noun
• a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.
Jamie is a miracle and we are so thankful he's here to tell his story.
~Jacqui

As Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness month comes to a close it's time for an update on Jamie's Journey.
“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” ― Confucius.
It's been almost 11 months since Jamie's life was changed. He continues to work towards his goals in both speech and occupational therapy.
Jamie and family are adjusting and enjoying life in Florida. They've been exploring the area; attending festivals, school events, a couple of preseason Phillies games and even kayaking. Nicole and Jamie recently celebrated 5 years of marriage, in sickness and health.
One of Jamie's biggest goals is to not only be able to drive again but to be able to ride again. While we don't know when the green light for that will come it doesn't hurt to prepare for it. Jamie's bike is newly wrapped and waiting for when that time comes. Jamie's favorite color is lime green which also happens to be the color for TBI awareness.
Please continue to think of Jamie and his continued recovery.

Today begins Brain Injury Awareness month.
An estimated 5.3 million Americans are living today with a disability related to traumatic brain injury. No two injuries or outcomes are the same. The healing process takes months and years, have patience and grace. A brain injury changes you forever. You aren't just relearning life skills, you have to relearn who you are.
Jamie's life changed forever almost 10 months ago. He has made incredible progress and is still working hard.
Keep chasing your goals, Jamie. You've got a ton of people rooting for you and you're doing amazing.

**** ATTEMPTED MURDER WARRANT ****
On May 03, 2022 at approximately 0044 hours, Chester City Police were dispatched to the intersection of Pusey Street and West 2nd Street, Chester, PA 19013 for a shooting victim. Upon arrival the victim was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment and an investigation began.
During the investigation police determined that the victim was a tow truck driver who re-possesses vehicles for International Recovery Services (IRS). Law enforcement obtained surveillance footage and interviewed several witnesses which led to a suspect identified as Jabril Ali, B/M/8-19-1997. Ali was positively identified by several of the witnesses as well as surveillance video as the shooter.
A search warrant was subsequently conducted on a Nissan Altima that the shooting victim had just repossessed. Recovered from that search warrant we’re belongings of Ali, as well as a large amount of co***ne, he**in, and Fentanyl.
Ali has been charged with attempted murder, robbery, weapons violations, and drug sales. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or contact Detective Rhaheem Blanden at 610-447-8420.
Tik Tok took the first video down for community guidelines violations just as it was starting to take off.
